Beautiful Feet Books Music Appreciation Curriculum: What I’m Loving
- Beautiful Feet Books Music Appreciation is highly customizable to whatever your schedule allows for. Sometimes with courses like this, other subjects take precedence–like math! I love including fine arts into our days and this is designed so you can easily fit in just a few minutes or a whole hour if you want to.
- This curriculum is the perfect example of “family homeschooling.” With a wide-variety of ages, so often we are splitting our family up to do different subjects. This was designed for grades 2-12, so everyone can join in!
- All the heavy planning is done. I can use their lesson plans (52 lessons total) and adjust them as needed. I don’t have to search around for good books to add in or music to play. It’s all done for me.
- Each lesson includes a color-coded guide to show you when to:
- “Read and Listen”
- “Discuss”
- “Record” (in their notebooks)
- “Explore”
- “Do” (projects or recipes)
- and “Rabbit Trails” (for extra ideas if the child is loving a certain section)
How We’ll Be Using BFB Music Appreciation
This coming school year, I will just have my girls, who are in 11th and 6th grades. I am really excited to be doing this together with them and incorporating it into our Morning Meeting, directly after Bible. We will do these lessons in 20-30 minute chunks of time, which is very doable. Each lesson is designed to take no more than 60 minutes, so I will just break up the lessons as needed.
We will listen to the playlists as we eat breakfast in the mornings as well. I love to start our days with music!
The curriculum is broken up into sections as follows:
- Ancient Music
- Medieval and Renaissance Music
- Baroque
- Classical
- Romantic
- Music in the 20th Century
The final section covers musicals and musical theater, so I think it will be fun to watch several musicals as we cover that section.
I am so looking forward to adding more music appreciation into our days!
