Homeschooling Day in the Life: Brianna, Homeschooling Mom of Four Children, With a Classical + Charlotte Mason Approach
A homeschool day in the life looks different almost every day, right? Over on our Instagram page, we love to give you a peek into lots of homeschool days regardless of how they change day to day.
Today, we’re going to give you a peek into the homeschool day in the life of Brianna, homeschooling mom to four children, with both a classical and Charlotte Mason approach.
We can all learn and be inspired by one another, regardless of our homeschool approach. It’s not about looking good for social media, it’s about the connection going on inside our homeschool walls and sharing with others what works for us.We might all homeschool a little differently, but we can always look for ideas from each other that inspire, encourage and equip us in our own homeschool days. So each week we create blog posts for you to access later of each of those “days in the life”. We hope you keep coming back for more inspiration. Keep going, mama! These days at home are so worth it!

Good Morning!
Hello Living Well Community!! 💗 I am Brianna and I’m so excited for you to join us today for a day in the life of our family.
We do not start school bright and early in the morning but choose to have a relaxed start to our day. I make some tea and read the Bible then I’ll start breakfast around 9am.
We are part of the Classical Conversations community but lean more toward a Charlotte Mason education. Give me all the living books! I have four children, ages 13, 11, 7 and 5 and we are about to wrap up our 8th year of homeschooling. What a joy it has been being with my children day in and day out!
Morning Time
Morning time has been so special to us. A time to chat, ask questions and grow together!
While we eat breakfast we listen to an audiobook then open our Bibles and read together. We have started the book of Revelation, reading 1 chapter a day until finished. Then we turn our focus to history and science.
Right now, we are using Simply Charlotte Mason Modern Times and Epistles, Revelation for history and Bible. I love these studies and will be using Vol. 2 next year. For science, I chose to end our year with Health and the Physical Body from The Good and the Beautiful. I’ve never used a science curriculum from TGTB but we’ve been enjoying it.
The Younger Years
The younger years are such a special time! Watching those moments when something clicks and understanding is clear brings me so much joy.
The school work only gets harder the older they get so I cherish each day I have with my Kindergartener and 1st grader!
I use My Father’s World God’s Creation From A to Z for Kindergarten! I LOVE this one. We have made the best memories. I add math to it though. We’ve settled on Saxon.
For 1st grade, I use Saxon Math 1, All About Reading and Abeka Spelling. He also sits in on morning time. They are learning so much this year!
Classical + Charlotte Mason
How do I make Classical learning work with Charlotte Mason style of learning?
I take what we are learning in Classical Conversations and add living books to it, narrations and nature! I want my children to have a feast laid before them so they can learn as much as they can with shorter lessons.
The Teenage Years
Teenage years…they seem so intimidating. You hear stories of how horrible they could be but I am hoping for a different outcome. Children don’t just reach an age where we can be hands off. I think they need us more than ever during the hard teenage years! I want to work alongside my child, helping him in any area he needs. Whether that be school, personal growth, spiritual growth and anything in between.
