Helpful Homeschool Planning Tools

July + August are prime time for homeschool mamas…we are READY to plan!! We’ve got a couple really great resources ready and waiting for you to do a little hand-holding with your planning process. Sometimes, that’s EXACTLY what I need to get my planning done!

Kindred Planning Conference Replays

On June 28th, the Kindred Team and I hosted our second online homeschool conference: this one completely devoted to homeschool planning. It was pretty special, if I do say so myself.

If you weren’t able to make it, or need some extra help with your planning, we’ve got you covered! The replays from the event are ready and available for immediate viewing.

Here’s what the sessions cover:

PLANNING FOR PLAY: WHY IT’S IMPORTANT, HOW TO MAKE IT COUNT, AND HOW TO PLAY MORE EVERY DAY

WITH CAITLIN FITZPATRICK CURLEY

We all know that play is important for child development but in today’s go-go-go society, it can be challenging to make play a priority.

In this session, you’ll find out why play is super important, not just for your children but also for you. You will learn how to make space for play and also how to make that play “count” for those year-end homeschool reviews. Cait believes strongly that homeschooling can be almost all fun and games, and she’s ready to show you how!

The goal? More joy and less overwhelm!

SETTING THE FRAMEWORK FOR YOUR BEST YEAR YET!

BY ALICIA HUTCHINSON

Getting ready to plan your homeschool year and don’t even know where to begin? Maybe you had a crummy homeschool year last year and really want this one to be better.

Planning your homeschool year can feel like a HUGE task. If you’re feeling like you need a little hand-holding this year, let Alicia hold it for you.

Before we start planning, let’s take a look back, do some brainstorming and learn from last year.

In Alicia’s session, we’re going to assess last year and lay a framework for the upcoming year. Get your thinking caps on and get ready to ask yourself nine critical questions about your last homeschool year.

CREATIVE PLANNING WITH TWEENS AND TEENS

BY MARY WILSON

Homeschooling the teen years can be challenging for parents. We want to creatively meet our child’s individual needs and stay true to our family’s homeschooling style while preparing our kids adequately for their future.

Homeschooling during these years often comes with questions and concerns: Am I doing enough? How can I incorporate their interests? What do I do when they don’t want to join the rest of the family anymore? Are there ways to encourage their independence?

I have struggled through many of these dilemmas in my own family. Each year has taught me new lessons that have helped me create a homeschool that celebrates the uniqueness of each of my children, from elementary to high school.

Join me as we talk about strategies and ideas when it comes to creative homeschool planning, accomplishing high school credits, and making room for creative endeavors during these exciting teen years.

HOMESCHOOLING ESSENTIALISM

BY KARA ANDERSON

When we choose to homeschool our kids, we take on so much. And of course, we want to give our kids everything they need to succeed. BUT. Our goal is to keep homeschooling sustainable, right?

We’re in this for years, not weeks. And if we try to do it all, we will burn out. So in this session, we’ll talk about expectations for ourselves and our children, and how to prioritize when we want to give our kids all we can.

Kara will share why we can’t do it all, and shouldn’t even make doing it all our goal. We’ll figure out what enough looks and feels like and how to plan a year that includes what matters most for YOUR family.
