Page 27// No Words

We had a great day yesterday.  Vera had slept really poorly Friday night, so all day yesterday we just laid around, per my request.  We went to the park for a few hours in the afternoon though.  The sun was glorious. Such a beautiful fall day.  Just quiet…not a lot going on.  Reading books and enjoying each other.

For whatever reason, I invited Jack and Sophie to sleep with my in my bed last night.  Good thing, because sometime in the middle of the night, two more mice got snapped in traps.  Pretty sure that would have put Sophie over the edge, hearing that in the middle of the night.

Not quite sure where to go from there.  Obviously, there are still rodents living in my walls–coming out at night where my babies are sleeping.  No one will return my calls and emails–my landlord, the owner.  Two different pest control companies have been here multiple times and all they do is set traps.  So pointless.  I’ve called the health department…apparently they have no jurisdiction.  Finding another rental feels like Band-Aid for a much bigger problem and spending all that money to move into another rental feels like just one more financial slap in the face being here has given us.

I have no words.  No plan, no prayer, no thoughts.  Just tired–mentally, emotionally, physically tired.

  1. Hi! I found you thru Tara Lowrys blog. Just wanted to tell you that when I get mice, the exterminator comes and sets little black boxes of bait that dehydrates the mice and they go outside searching for water. They never die in the house. Works every single time. Also, getting rid of bird seed and dog poop in yard are important. My neighbors are big bird feeders, so I will be getting mice until they stop feeding birds my exterminator said ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Eek! I am so looking forward to see what comes of this….:) And a trip probably never sounded so good, glad you've got one coming!

  3. Wow, I'm really sorry. ๐Ÿ™ I don't guess there is really anything you can do but to pack a change of clothes and come have a drink with me by the fire pit. Bring your kids too. They can play with mine. I'm praying for you. {Hugs}

  4. Continued prayers for you. I know you are BEYOND hurt, frustrated . . . I don't have any words either. Our 2012 was much like that and my prayers didn't have words anymore by the end–just my hands thrown in the air and "Blaaahhh!" So much difficult stuff had happened, I didn't know what to say anymore. BUT, God was there the whole time and I can see that more clearly now. Enjoy your trip back to SD!

  5. I have been reading your blog for a couple of weeks now. I found you via the Life Made Lovely.

My husband and I moved into a rental recently after having to sell our house. We were on a tight budget and neeed to live in a specific area. We had been praying for months on where to move. We finally found a house that met all of the criteria, signed the lease. The Lord was so good to us but we still had some huge hurdles to overcome. I hadn't really inspected the place so when we started to clean we found that the house must have been full of rodents; rats and mice. We cleaned for 3 weeks to make the house livable. We moved in and discovered that we had rats in out attic. I know that the Lord wanted me in this house. This is what He provided-To me is this is perfect, no but our Heavenly Father knows what He is doing.
So far no rats in the house….we have a CAT ๐Ÿ˜‰

  6. I don't know what to tell you to solve your rodent problem. But in regards to the move/don't move situation, the only thing I can say is do what your gut tells you. Do what feels right. Not what sounds right.

We have in the past pointed ourselves in particular directions only to change our minds at the last minute when we realized that everything FELT wrong. It just was. And even though we had to overcome more, or wait longer or spend more, we look back and know that those decisions came in the perfect place. Those were our guiding lights.

I hope you guys find a way to stop your mouse issues in the meantime. I have heard that mice don't like peppermint oil. Have you tried that?

  7. Woohoo for your weight loss. I agree with the comment can they do something while you are gone for the week? Terrible to waste that week for treatment. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

  8. There are no words here either friend. Just prayers whispered up.

Btw.. You are doing so good with the weight loss. That's usually the first thing to be put on a shelf for me when I'm stressed. Very very proud of you!!!

  9. I am not sure how I found your blog but have been reading for awhile. I want you to know how sorry I am you are going through the horrible mouse problem. I get how hard that is for you with worrying about your kids and especially your daughter being so scared. We own a very old house and the first few winters we struggled also with mice and figuring out how they were getting in. We did FINALLY get it solved and have not had problems the last few years. I remember not wanting to be home and not feeling like I could handle it. Just know that I am praying that a solution will become clear for your sweet family.

  10. Oh girl. There truly are no words right now. (well, maybe a few, but I'm a lady and shouldn't say them . . hee hee)

All I can say is simply, I love you. And my heart because yours does. Know that I'm praying on your behalf.

  11. yay for losing
    3.5 pounds!

can you bomb the heck out of
    the house when you leave
    for a week?

    i have heard from friends
    that mice are very hard
    to get rid of

    hoping things improve.
