A homeschool day in the life looks different almost every day, right? Over on our Instagram page, we love to give you a peek into lots of homeschool days regardless of how they change day to day.
Today, we’re going to give you a peek into the homeschool day in the life of Annie, homeschooling mom to two children, who loves to show the real and practical side of homeschooling.
We can all learn and be inspired by one another, regardless of our homeschool approach. It’s not about looking good for social media, it’s about the connection going on inside our homeschool walls and sharing with others what works for us.

We might all homeschool a little differently, but we can always look for ideas from each other that inspire, encourage and equip us in our own homeschool days. So each week we create blog posts for you to access later of each of those “days in the life”. We hope you keep coming back for more inspiration. Keep going, mama! These days at home are so worth it!

Good Morning

Good morning everyone! It’s Annie from @learning.as.we.grow ! I’m so excited to share our day with all of you! Here is a quick rundown of our day:
I wake up at around 5:30 with my husband to make him his lunch and see him off to work. Then around 6:00 I make my coffee and cozy up with my Bible and a bunch of devotionals! (Or I will head back to bed and get some more sleep before the kids wake up.) Notice the random dirty sock I stripped off before bed last night and never picked it up… 🤷♀️😆 Real life!
At 7:00 it’s time to wake the kids up for the day if they aren’t already up. Some mornings they wake up before 7:00 and sit with me while I read! The rest of the day isn’t exactly run by a specific time.
-Chores
-Breakfast
-Clean the kitchen (most of the time I’ll wash the dishes and then have the kids dry and put them away)
-Kids have free time for a bit
-Bust out the books
-Lunch with history or a history podcast
-Finish up whatever school we have left
-Pick up and put away all our school stuff so it is nice and clean before my husband gets home (some days that doesn’t always happen)
-Figure out dinner (if I’m on it, I’ll figure this out either the night before, or that morning)
Combining Subjects

Kyra is handling the read aloud time while I get to my dirty kitchen!
Some days, especially when I have to go to work in the evenings, (I work at a retail store a few nights a week) the read aloud time doesn’t happen. However our history and science have lots of reading, so we do come together and read at some point during the day!
Do you guys combine subjects if your kiddos are close in age? Kyra and Eli are a year and a half apart, so I combine their history/geography and science!
Side note, we all took a second to chase a random turkey out of our yard just now. We planted grass seed about 7 days ago. So I’m sure she was having a nice feast of fresh seed. Kyra ran back inside after chasing the turkey away and said “I love beautiful, slow mornings!”
The Messy School Day

This is a before and during picture.
The first one is during our school day.
And the next is before we started our day.
Doing school at home can be super messy. And that’s okay! 😁
We are about finished up with our school day here. It ended up being a rather eventful day around here. A man showed up in our backyard and police officers showed up. It just goes to show that every day is different around here!
That’s a Wrap!

Well that’s a wrap! It’s 10pm, and I’m ready for bed! Thank you all for joining me and my family today! I’m beyond honored to have been able to do this. Would love to have you join me over on my IG @learning.as.we.grow. Goodnight, and happy homeschooling!

Thank you so much to Annie for sharing your family’s day with us!
