Friday Favorites: A Weekly Review

It’s Friday…thank the Lord Jesus! It’s been a week! Busy, full, hot, dramatic at times. I’m happy it’s Friday, can I just say that? I was thinking yesterday about all that this week entailed, picked out the high-points and here I am, sharing them with you.
Here’s my favorites for the week:
::Favorite Photo::๏ปฟ
This picture so perfectly captured the emotion of that particular moment. Me; pleased as punch after a long day of school and activities, sucking down a triple shot iced latte. Sister; looked pissy and hot after playing in the yard, too many pliรฉs, and too little quiet time. She wants the drink. I am happy, she is not. The clouds that day were gorgeous. Favorite photo.
::Favorite Accomplishment::๏ปฟ

Well, besides just figuring out how to type an “e” like this “รฉ” (Yeah!!! It’s so fun…รฉรฉรฉรฉ. I know you wanna know how to do that now…I’ll maybe do a tutorial someday.) my favorite accomplishment would be my ridiculous to-do list for this week. Yes, it was almost all self-imposed and no, it didn’t really have to be done. But it did so yeah!
::Favorite Blessing in Disguise::๏ปฟ

Well, Sassy Sheila the sewing machine bit it. She’s been making weird clunky sounds and I knew she was gonna go at some point. And she did. Right as I was finishing the 8th of 8 pillows. I heard a clunk and a whir and that was the end of Sassy. She stuck it out till the bitter end. Pillows were done. Sassy, RIP.

Recreations of WWII and Vietnam battles doesn’t sound quiet, but it really is. If they’re busy it’s pretty quiet in my house. Ahhhh.
::Favorite Smell::๏ปฟ

Mint Basil. @Target. Definately gonna buy the bigger one next time.

Get the 6 Secrets to a Simpler Mom Life

Not only did Sister suddenly start writing her name on her own without help, but it’s even in order. (mostly) I love the “p”. It’s like a “Q” but not. Love that. She’s writing her name on everything! She wrote it on her arm with a pen. It’s not like I condone this behavior, but it was a pretty big breakthrough.๏ปฟ

Standardized testing. Done! Hurrah!๏ปฟ
Me: Jack are you done with your math?

Jack: Not quite, just a minute.

Me: Is that a fighting scene you’re drawing there?
Jack: Ha! Ya ๐Ÿ™‚
(Not really a breakthrough, but pretty funny. Boys!!)๏ปฟ
Finishing our last chapter of our history curriculum…on the front porch. Very nice.
::Favorite Passage::
Colossians 3. It was something I needed right at that moment. I love when that happens. It completely changed my mind about some things and made me think all day about it. I still am in fact.  I will share further sometime soon….๏ปฟ
::Favorite Financial Step::๏ปฟ

First check cashed. Very very exciting. Went into the bank, endorsed it and everything. Very cool.
::Favorite Dote::๏ปฟ
A love note by my bed. ๐Ÿ™‚
::Favorite Lunch::๏ปฟ

It’s a random lunch, but seriously good. I do not eat good lunches normally. The only reason I had a halfway decent lunch is because my friend Carissa came over and she brought half the stuff.
We had mango salsa and a delish pizza. I don’t know if I’d call it Greek or what, but it was goooood! And because I love you so much, I’m sharing recipes.
Super Yummy Pizza Carissa Made at My House for Lunch on Tuesday

So soo good.
::Favorite Crying-Turned-To-Laughter Moment::๏ปฟ

It’s summer. It’s buzz-cut season.
Noah’s went well. Jack’s did not go so well.
Apparently the guard falling off the clipper and not noticing that detail can be catastrophic for a haircut. And apparently the rule on buzzing boys’ hair is you start in the back…not above the ear. Funny how all these “rules” emerge when the mess-up has already been made. And it was not a small mess-up. Needless to say, I had one partially bald child in tears, another full headed hair child going ballistic that her brother was partially bald…screaming, I’m telling you!, and a freshly buzzed headed child biting his lip to not laugh in between offering suggestions like hats and Army reenactments. It was no laughing matter…until it was. And then we did. It was bad/hilarious/dramatic, but at the present time my poor boy looks weird. This photo is the front of his head. The back will not be posted here. He might run for President someday…can you imagine?!
So that’s that, folks. I hope this weekend is relaxing and fun…for all of us. We will be going on a field trip to Davy Crockett’s birthplace  and hopefully a whole lot of nothing. ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Bahahaha! You're killing me smalls! Poor boy! ๐Ÿ™‚ It builds character right? The pizza and mango salsa look delish! Thanks for brightening my morning, I definitely needed it!

  2. I want you to be my very cool and hip little sister that keeps me cool and hip.

    And we have had so many buzz cuts like that it's not even funny. Oh the buzz cut horror stories I've lived to tell…. LOL

    Hope this week is swell… ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Girl I just adore you. I can actually hear your voice as I read this post. Thanks for the link up. Can't believe that was lunch! And poor kid…at least it's hair and will grow.

    And was that an actual love letter from your man? Awesomeness. I need to tell b that. Give him something to think about;). I dreamed that b and I were dating last night and that he was in love with someone else. It was so painful. So glad it was just a dream. Hate those.

  4. Love this idea for a week in review type. So cute:) And seriously that candle line from Target is splendid. My favorite is the lilac one. Oh how heavenly. Happy weekend friend.

  5. Great faves! And, the fact that you named your sewing machine (RIP Sassy Sheila) just adds to the awesomeness of the post.
    Your blog is seriously like a breath of fresh air!

    Have a great weekend!

  6. How often do you get your sewing machine serviced?
    I'm about to bring mine in, but since I'm still a beginner I have no idea how often this should be done.
    What kind of replacements are you looking at?
    I love this post.
    It made me smile….and made me think of some of my own favorites this week.
    What a nice way to end the week!

  7. Laughed so hard I cried. I think I might start a Friday favorite over on my side of the states. Alicia, you need to do another video, I need to hear your 'voice' when I read your funny blogs. I'm just visual/audio like that. Love it! Hair grow fast. And I want to see the back!

  8. there are just too many good things in this post to comment on. i mean, i'd have to write a whole blog post just to hit on them all! (which i obviously won't do considering that would be weird, and i haven't blogged in a month) in an effort to keep this short, i'm going to try and keep my comment to one word. ready?

    jack: super cute
    sassy girl: disastrous
    pillows: beautiful
    love notes: jealous
    testing: i'd better get to ordering those!

    LOVE that pic of you and sophia, and i can totally reenact this haircut scene at my house…for real. we've been there.
