Six Great Christian High School Curriculum for Homeschoolers

If you’re thinking about homeschooling for high school, one of the big hurdles to get over is finding curriculum. If you’re looking for great options for Christian high school curriculum for your homeschoolers, here are six great choices. We have been homeschooling high school for a decade now and I am picky about what our kids use for curriculum. Each of these choices have been used and tested. Here are my six picks:

1. Master Books // World Geography and Cultures

World Geography and Cultures is a one-credit geography or elective credit course. It is a full-year study of world regions combining physical and human geography, cultural analysis, economic systems, and government structures. It includes consistent map work, data interpretation, and critical thinking, all through a biblical lens. Each day includes optional projects that range from writing and research to artistic endeavors and journaling. This allows you to customize the course for a student who wants to do the bare minimum or one who really loves to deep dive a subject.

I love that throughout the course, students are encouraged to think critically about geography by asking questions, making connections, and praying for people groups–all within the context of a Christian worldview. It takes geography from being a list of facts, to the amazing story of God’s creation and humanity’s place in it.

2. Apologia // Exploring Creation With Forensics

This course combines solid, faith-based science teaching with one of the most intriguing real-world topics out there. This self-paced course walks students through the fascinating intersection of science, investigation, and critical thinking. Designed to be both rigorous and engaging, it introduces students to the methods and reasoning used in real-world forensic science—all taught from a biblical perspective.

The course covers topics like evidence collection and analysis, DNA and fingerprint identification, bloodstain and ballistics study, toxicology, forensic pathology and anthropology, and the legal aspects of criminal investigations. It doesn’t just teach students about lab techniques—it helps them think like scientists. They’ll learn how to carefully observe, analyze data, and draw logical conclusions based on evidence.

Forensic Science is an excellent choice for juniors and seniors who have completed biology and chemistry, enjoy real-world problem solving and investigation, want a science credit that feels fresh and relevant, and those that thrive on self-paced, independent study. This course offers students a chance to apply the science they’ve already learned in meaningful, practical ways—an ideal capstone to their high school science sequence. It’s one of the most unique upper-level homeschool science options out there!

3. Compass Classroom // Dave Raymond’s World History Series

We have done several classes in this series, and I am continually impressed! The classes are lecture based, but they are so much more than a lecture. Raymond has a way of making these lectures story-driven and really engaging.

These weekly lessons include video, reading, exam, and the students are to create a nice portfolio–making a page for their portfolio after each 5-part lesson. This is such a fun and beautiful keepsake!

The class also includes several big, well-thought-out projects and a thesis paper as well. Overall it’s just a really thorough, rounded-out class and we love them!

4. Steadfast // History, Literature + Composition

This is a thoughtfully designed Christian high school curriculum that combines history, literature, composition, apologetics, and worldview into one beautifully integrated program.

Over the full four years, students can earn 17.5 high school credits by studying history, humanities, literature, writing, apologetics, and worldview. That means, you will just need to simply add math, science, and foreign language to have a very complete high school plan.

Instead of juggling separate programs for history, literature, and writing, Steadfast ties them together beautifully. Students study a historical era, read literature from that time period, and write thoughtfully about what they’re learning. This curriculum helps teens examine ideas, philosophies, and worldviews through the lens of Scripture. That matters so much during the high school years, when students are beginning to ask deeper questions and engage with the wider culture.

5. Master Books // Consumer Math

Consumer Math is a one-credit high school math course designed to teach teens how to apply math in real-life situations. The curriculum covers topics like budgeting, banking, taxes, insurance, interest rates, comparison shopping, and more—all with a biblical worldview woven throughout.

The lessons are clear and straightforward, designed for students to work through mostly on their own, with minimal prep required from parents. The included suggested schedule breaks lessons into manageable daily segments for a full school year, and the teacher guide includes a recommended schedule of lessons, which makes it really easy to check off and make sure you’re on track to finish by May.

If you’re looking for a math course that connects classroom learning with the real world, Consumer Math by Master Books is a strong choice.

6. Compass Classroom // Visual Latin

This course uses a combination of short videos and worksheets for different learning styles. While Latin can be a difficult subject, Dwane Thomas does an excellent job of keeping kids engaged with his unique sense of humor. The course includes vocabulary flashcards and weekly quizzes to help solidify the information being taught.

Visual Latin is a one-credit high school elective credit and is a great way to begin a foreign language!
