Winter Homeschool Curriculum Line-Up

We’re continuing on with our main curriculum I shared back at the beginning of the homeschool year. But here’s a closer look at what we’re reading and studying.

For Morning Meeting:

Writing and Grammar with our history assignments

History + Literature

The girls are continuing on with their study of American History with Compass Classroom and loving it. They’ll be starting on their main thesis paper soon. They’re also each reading some American literature alongside their history study.

Science

Vera and I have been reading through Apologia’s Land Animals, specifically about cats. She’s been taking notes in the student notebook while I read from the text.

Sophia is continuing on with her Apologia Forensics course and it’s going great.

Arts

This time of year, I want my girls to be reading a ton, doing puzzles, baking, practicing their handcrafts like embroidery and drawing. And I find having those things on hand make it easy to grab for instead of always resorting to a screen of some kind.

We love Classical Encounters and we are working through the textbook this winter. Not only is it beautiful, it’s incredibly rich in history, geography, and of course, music!

Water coloring is also SO fun on cozy winter days. We love the lessons from Brighter Days Press and we’re using the winter book right now. THESE are our favorite watercolors too.
