Homeschooling Day in the Life: Melody, a Work From Home, Homeschooling Mom to Three Children

A homeschool day in the life looks different almost every day, right? Over on our Instagram page, we love to give you a peek into lots of homeschool days regardless of how they change day to day.
Today, we’re going to give you a peek into the homeschool day in the life of Melody, a work from home, homeschooling mom of three children.
We can all learn and be inspired by one another, regardless of our homeschool approach. It’s not about looking good for social media, it’s about the connection going on inside our homeschool walls and sharing with others what works for us.

We might all homeschool a little differently, but we can always look for ideas from each other that inspire, encourage and equip us in our own homeschool days. So each week we create blog posts for you to access later of each of those “days in the life”. We hope you keep coming back for more inspiration. Keep going, mama! These days at home are so worth it!
Meet Melody

I live in Southern California with my husband Tim and three kids! I have two older children, Blake (almost 14) and Donovan (11) and then 8 years later decided to go for round three and had my daughter Elle who is 3.5 years old now. I have always been a working mom and owned bakeries in Southern California for over 10 years but always wanted my kiddos around me! After trying out preschool one year, we decided to go into Homeschooling for my oldest daughter and have never looked back. We’ve been homeschooling over eight years now and even though we sold our bakeries, I still work from home, helping people with health and wellness while homeschooling. We love traveling eating delicious food and also love that our extended family all lives around us and that we have such a great homeschool community here in Orange County.

My youngest takes an art class. After the class is over we love going to the farmers market to meet up with some of our homeschool friends.

We went to a nearby local museum that had an exhibit on the Vietnam war. After that we went to the Nextdoor local farm and garden where we had a picnic lunch, played board games, and picked cotton from the garden.

Back at home and my son did his math and reading lessons. In between lessons he plays with his Rubiks cube non-stop.

My daughter and I watered the garden, fed the chickens, and did some baking.

My oldest daughter goes to a local homeschool school once a week for harder classes. She got home and continued her work on her own. She loves books and theater, so once her schoolwork was done she read and then had a late night theater class.
