10 Amazing New Books I’m Excited to Read This Year

Every new year, I love to see what new books are coming. This is my list of 10 new books in 2019 that I can’t wait to read. Some I chose because I knew the authors and enjoyed their previous work. Others were chosen because they just look too good to miss!

Recently, I had a conversation with a friend about all the books we read last year. This is a follow-up to that conversation. You can also see the list of books I read last year, too.

Now, let’s get to the books!

2019 looks like a great reading year! If you're excited to see what's new, check out my list of new books 2019 that I'm excited to read this year!

The Paragon Hotel (Jan. 2019) | A woman with a sketchy past shows up on a cross-country train from New York to Portland. She finds work at an all-black hotel–the only white woman in the area. When the Ku Klux Klan moves in, the woman with the past joins with her new “family” to protect them.

The Lost Girls of Paris (Jan. 2019) | A suitcase is found in Grand Central Station containing evidence of a group of women secret agents based in London during WWII. This one reminds me of the next one on the list, too.

The Huntress (Feb. 2019) |“Bold and fearless, Nina Markova always dreamed of flying. When the Nazis attack the Soviet Union, she risks everything to join the legendary Night Witches, an all-female night bomber regiment wreaking havoc on the invading Germans. When she is stranded behind enemy lines, Nina becomes the prey of a lethal Nazi murderess known as the Huntress, and only Nina’s bravery and cunning will keep her alive.” Really excited for this one!

Outer Order, Inner Calm by Gretchen Ruben (Mar. 2019) | I totally agree that a clutter-free space makes for a clutter-free mind. And I also believe that the way to go about being clutter-free is about as varied as all our personalities. This book will cover all the ways we can create order and calm.

Under Pressure: Confronting the Epidemic of Stress and Anxiety in Girls by Lisa Damour (Feb. 2019) The title says it all on this one. Sophia is a tween right now–I don’t read a ton of these types of books, but this one feels really important given the season we’re coming into with her.

More New Books I Can’t Wait to Read:

The Next Right Thing: A Simple, Soulful Practice for Making Life Decisions by Emily Freeman (April 2019) | For me, making decisions can be so hard when I’m already overwhelmed with life. This book sounds like a breath of fresh air and something I need to read this year.

The Lost Man by Jane Harper (Feb. 2019) |I really enjoyed The Dry by Jane Harper, and I hope this new title lives up to it! This one is about two brothers that find their third brother dead and the mystery that leads up to his death.

The Suspect by Fiona Barton (Jan. 2019)| To be honest, of all ten of these books, this one I’m most hesitant about. I read The Widow by this author and it was OK, but not my favorite. I like thrillers and mystery, but that one felt a little too dark. But I’m excited to give this one a try.

The Only Woman in the Room by Marie Benedict (Jan. 2019) | This one is based on a true story, which caught my eye right away–the wife of an Austrian arms dealer in WWII, she hears Nazi plans and plans her escape. She understands more than they think she does–she is a scientist, but has kept this a secret. She runs and ends up in Hollywood, and eventually a film star. Sounds like such a crazy story! Excited for this one too!

An Anonymous Girl by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanan (Jan. 2019) | This just arrived from my library wait list, and I can’t wait to dive in! It’s about a woman who signs up for a psychology study and quickly realizes the psychologist may know more about her life (and her secrets).

I would love to see what new books 2019 you’re excited about this year! Let me know in the comments below!
