i need to be alone: happy day challenge #5 (plus a giveaway!)

So first off, I'm completely embarrassed. I discovered a whole "Happy Day Project" blog yesterday...um, embarrrrassssing. Here I am thinking I'm all witty coming up with this fun idea, and there's a whole Happy Day Project blog. Me=thoroughly screwing up my face into ugly contortions. So I either A.) shrug it off and hopefully nobody thinks I ripped off the name OR B.) change the name. I'm still debating. A name change would be a pain, but the other choice hurts my ego...ugh!

But for now,  the challenge.

Do you thrive on alone time? Do you never feel like you get any of it?
This week let's make it happen.

I need alone time. Everyday (mostly) I have the kids go to their rooms and play quietly for at least an hour. I need that time. Sometimes I need more than that and I'll ask the sweet, loving, father of my children to take our sweet offspring to Barnes & Noble or Target or the ice cream shop so I can take a bath or curl up into a ball in my closet or something.

This week, alone time is your challenge.
-a quiet coffee
-an hour of uninterrupted blog reading

-a walk, a jog, a swim
-a nature hike
-some good magazines and a Coke

-a trip to the farmer's market without children
-a few hours alone at the library
-take a nap

-paint something
-make something
-get a mani
-get a pedi
-go to Starbucks

There's a million and one things you can do and should do alone...we pour a lot out, mamas. We need to pour some in too.
So, do something alone this week and come back next week and tell us what you did. I can't wait to see!!

So this last week I hope you put on your organized pants, because that was your challenge. Link up below...I can't wait to see your ideas!! I'll be sharing the link-ups over on my facebook page throughout the day :)

Also, I am so excited to announce my newest blog read, Barbara from San Fernando Street. She's super sweet. And to prove her sweetness she's giving away one of my large slate board-remakes over at her blog!! So go check her out! (after you link up of course ;))

Hop to it, friends! And if this is you're a first-timer please note: link up your direct blog post link, not your blog's homepage. Also, please add a button to your post. It's on my sidebar. I know it wasn't working last week, but I think I fixed it...I think.

Be Happy, sweet ones!!

Is it OK to have the button on my blog's sidebar, or do I need to put it in my post, too? (The reason I ask is because I am a dork and have enough trouble getting images in my sidebar)? Also, thanks for hosting this challenge. Obviously, I enjoy it! :-)

Y'know The Happiness Project spawned so many off shoots, that I am not surprised there is a Happy Day Project already. I forget where I heard this...someone's blog recently (Craftberry Bush maybe) that it's important to be authentic, impossible to be original. You came up with the idea for the challenge and presented it authentically.

I wanted to say, I really like the idea and usually I'm doing the challenges. I struggle to blog about it in a way that seems authentic and in my own voice not like I'm doing a checklist of happy. Lol. That's my issues though. And I do hope one day I can link up. I think I just used the line "It's not you it's me." Haha. I mean it though.

Thank you Thank you Thank you for next weeks challenge! But the problem now is . . . . I want to do each of those things you mentioned in your idea list. :) I'm hoping to organize something today- the week just got away from me! Imagine that! Love you sistah!!
Sorry about that whole name thing! UGH! What if you held a contest to see who could come up with a fun new name? Or just leave it- we all know you came up with your idea! How's that for help! :) Hee hee!

oh, alicia! i think your happy day project is just wonderful! and i never thought once that you were trying to take someones idea!
keep it going girlfriend!
shove that pride aside! ;)

so...i can totally DO this challenge... i think!
that is if i can get my hubby to take our 'offspring' for me. that part cracks me up!
i'm glad to hear that i'm not the only one who curls up in a ball in the closet! :)
or rocks in the fetal position downstairs! ok, ok, not really, but i want to sometimes.

if i lived closer to you, i would definitely take your kids for the day for you. that would be so much fun!

I think alone time is crucial in our line of work. I feel like I cant take care of everything and everyone if I'm outta whack!! I thankfully have a husband who is understanding when I say I'm going out tonight...by myself. ;) Also...don't fret about the happy day project name!! It's great:) I'd keep it.

I DID get some uninterrupted time yesterday in my sewing room and oh my gosh it was wonderful!
My mother in law took the girls the night before for a sleepover so as soon as I woke up I got to work.
Sewing is therapeutic for me and there's always a finished product at the end: double bonus!:)

I love this next one! Alone time is my best friend! I wish we got to hang out more :)
I agree with what others said about your project name. I love it. As your readers we know your heart and know that you would never knowingly copy anothers idea. You are too awesome for that! I think you should leave it but you should do what ever is comfortable for you! Love ya girl! Have a great day!

Great challenge this is perfect timing because my husband is going on his guy trip next week & I decided to take a couple days off from work to have me time. The name game ugh!

I'd keep the name. Can there be too many Happy Day Projects? We are all just supporting and encouraging one another. It makes me smile when I see your "Happy Day Project" posts show up in my blog list. :)

Also, a million thumbs up for alone time. As a happy introvert I crave alone time and need a little every day. Thanks for the encouragement!

You are in the famine phase of alone time. I am in the feast phase of alone time. I crave more time with my children, but they are busy spreading their wings...as it should be. And I think you are witty and came of with a fun idea ;-)

I definitely NEED my alone time! Even if just for a few minutes, or a trip to Target!

I'm back and I've missed ya girly!! I have to say that I think you should keep the name because it's impossible for inspiration and that sort of thing from overlapping. Creative minds tend to think alike sometimes. Ya know? Been there, done that.

Also, I need alone time too but lately I seem to need more friend time than alone time... I think it's cause my dog is dead. She was my little daily companion.

:( I was going to link up my organized craft closet and garage today, but it says your linky tool expired.

Ha. There is nothing new under the sun. I would keep the name.
