I'm not going to pretend I'm as cool as the hard-cores that stayed up late and viewed the midnight showing of the Hunger Games premiere....
...BUT I did make an appearance last night. and it. was. AWEsome!
The movie theater was crazy, but we got our tickets! Carissa and I were pleasantly impressed with the accuracy of the movie. It followed the book really well. I felt like the places where it strayed from it a bit were to give a better description of the background to the people that didn't read it....like the dynamics between Seneca Crane and President Snow. Loved how they showed that little twist at the end. It wasn't in the book, but it was still true to the book. I can't say what it was...I've learned my lesson about being a movie spoiler. I was almost stoned to death for spoiling The Sixth Sense to my high school sociology class. Stoned, I tell ya!
Consider me tight-lipped. Just read the book, k??
Ok, but that's not why I'm here. If you saw the movie, you know it was good right? Not too lovey. Not too gory. Just right, right??
But here's a super cool little tidbit for ya. The movie was filmed in North Carolina...most of which, very close to where I live!
Remember when my friend Robin was here a few months ago and I took her on one of our favorite waterfall hikes??
See that waterfall in the background????
Well, THAT is part of the Arena! How cool is that!? I really AM Katniss...or something. :-/
I am not like super super sure on this, but I'm pretty sure this is the spot where a certain tribute finds a certain injured tribute during the Games. Pretty neat, no??
I'm even more excited we moved to Asheville!
Sorry so short, girls, but I need to go grab my bow and find some squirrels for dinner.
xo,

PS: Mad Men premiere tonight!!! We're deciding between popcorn and cokes or scotch for refreshments for the two-hour premiere. Today I'm Katniss tomorrow I may very will be Joan, you just never know what obsession will hit next.

i thought it was really good too. i was prepared for disappointment, but it was better than i thought. could katniss be any more beautiful?? i was mesmerized. that spot you arrowed looks like a body outline. too weird. so relieved to have seen it. we waited in a twisty line with m and all her friends. there was a little bit of a mad dash when the line started moving. crazies! b left frustrated. he wanted mad revenge on all the capital leaders. he's so funny!
i can't wait to see the movie the movie just to see those pretty nc mountains! i am almost done with book #1. i'm late to the games! but better late than never. it makes me so sad, but i still have to keep reading because i'm so intrigued!
ps. you and your wannabee katniss is making me laugh hysterically.
I am definitely a Peeta fan and am happy to say that the actor who played him won me over!! And I totally agree about the right amounts of love and blood. At the end my husband was like that's it??? That's the end? I told him there were two more books still and proceeded for the rest of the night asking questions. It was awesome! Lol. Happy hunger games:)
NC is host to lots of filming (just reason like #6971 it's awesome). When I read the book, I envisioned a lot of it taking place in western NC.
I am fabulously excited to see the movie. I thought the book was good but a bit too hyped (I was not a fan of how it ended--for me it was too predictable), but I have a feeling it will translate phenomenally to film.
Can't wait to see it! We're hoping to catch a matinee in another week (hopefully lines and crazy fan girls have calmed down by then).
I saw the movie today. I did have to hide my eyes a time of two because of the gore, but I still loved it. I also cried twice. The Capitol parts were filmed here in Charlotte! My husband could see Stanley Tucci from his office! I should've driven to his office that day, huh? I vote for scotch, btw. Even though I cannot stomach scotch.
JUST got back from the movie. Loved it! When I walked out of the theater, I'm not gunna lie, I kinda felt like I was Katniss and I was being hunted :)
Saw the movie Friday night~I did like it, but thought the book was better:) Stop by my blog and check out the t-shirt my daughter made to wear to it!
And may the odds be ever in your favor!
Shannon
I saw it today and LOVED IT!!! I read the book when it first came out, so it was fun to to watch it with some distance from the book. But overall I thought they did a very good portrayal of the characters and story line.
You totally are Katniss! :)
love those mountains girl!!! I did not know however, that they did the filming there!!! Pretty awesome indeed...and you are ever so gorgeous...!
Most likely you are Katniss's secret twin - you do look so much like her! I started Hunger Games Friday night and finished Catching Fire on Saturday. oops. MAKING myself put off Mockingjay for a couple days while I rejoin real life and let my brain fog clear a little. ; ) You give me hope for the movie...
with love,
cailan
