coffee time: talking about weekends and christmas houses

Hi guys :) I'm joining Amy and friends for coffee this morning...thanks for coming. If you're hoping to just stop in for a quick sec, good luck because I'm in the chatting mood...
and there's like 20 pictures in this post, so stick around for a while.

This weekend was good. We had a date night and got our Christmas shopping done.
We had a delicious dinner and time alone was really nice. We do that every year...dinner and shopping. It's a good tradition.

On Sunday we went to the National Gingerbread Competition (there must be a "national competition for everything) to see all the gingerbread masterpieces.
Pretty incredible...and edible....(i had to!)

We also wrapped gifts and finished a few little projects.
I completely ripped off Lemonade Makin' Mama's idea here and sprayed these cheapo stools white and stenciled a number on top...she knows about it...and she's ok with it.

I contracted in my darling second son to do the distressing. I think he did quite well.
We may be on to something here...professional distresser??

Also this weekend? One of my etsy items made the front page on Sunday!!! Hooray, right??!!

Ok, now enough weekend talk and more Christmas talk...
here's some pics of my living room all Christmassy...

This grey cabinet is the one I just bought at IKEA. I love it. I bought it so that I could use it in lots of different areas, not just for the TV. I can see this as a sideboard table, buffet, craft cupboard, in the bedroom...so many options. Yeah IKEA!

Some of these aren't really that Christmassy, but I've never shown you my living room before...I don't have a whole lot out or up. But I like the simple for now.
It took me all of one hour to decorate our temp home for Christmas.

Now on to the lower level...
we have a like a family room of sorts that's pretty big, so it is used as a play area and my craft area. My craft area was pretty messy at the time of this photo shoot...
I want to really organize my space today. When we moved in here, not long ago, I just kind of shoved stuff here and there and haven't really organized...that's my goal for today.
So...on to the nicer part of the room.

We got two real trees this year. The kids love having allllll their handmade ornaments on their own tree. I love it too! Just look at this tree!! There's hardly a bare branch!!

So there's my Christmas house. Hope you enjoyed the tour and your coffee...
Happy Tuesday!!

Join Amy for more fun posts HERE.

Good Morning Friend! Thank you for the little tour. Your home looks so cozy . . . I'll be right over! Oh- and I LOVE your huge map and vintage calendar- I almost bought an old railroad calendar not too long ago. Now seeing how cute yours is I'm kicking myself. :) Have a delightful day my dear!

We celebrated our 11th anniversary on the 9th and have always gone to dinner and Christmas shopped. I never really liked doing the shopping on our anniversary but it always worked out that way. Now I love it and look forward to it! We had a great time and pretty much finished the shopping. So yay to dinner, shopping, and traditions!
I love the stools...must do! And your temp home is just lovely!
Thanks for the coffee! ;)

Front page on Etsy... that's a big deal! :) I love your flannel pillows on your couch, such an easy way to decorate for the winter.

Did you really eat a gingerbread house?! You rebel! :)

I know that your house is temporary, but you've sure done an adorable job decorating it! I love the table from Ikea. I've never seen anything so neat from there! Great color too!

i'm really impressed that you can rope your man into going Christmas shopping with you. i have gone here and there as quickly as i possibly can while i leave daddy home with the little ones as he begs for me to hurry. ha!

can you believe i did the EXACT same things with our Christmas cards? except i strung mine across our upright piano. i better post pics.

i enjoyed coming over for Christmas today. : )

Even though your house is a temporary situation, you've sure made it look so nice and cozy. I love that big map and that the kids have their own tree. I put little table top trees in each of my kids' bedrooms this year to try and make it feel a little more festive for them.

Professional distresser?!!! Oh my word girl, I laughed so hard when I read that... I think that's what I SHOULD DO when I grow up!! LOL

Love that you have TWO trees. Love all your homey decorations too... and I LOVE IKEA... I love that cabinet and was there just this past weekend looking for something similar in white... you know... for if we ever move... someday... ever... maybe... who knows.

Okay so a tough day with that. Feel like a ping pong ball. Will this freakin house EVER sell?? Will it?? Huh? HUH? LOL

Love your new place.
Bud doesn't like the idea of a 2nd tree for the kids handmade ornaments, but I'm hopeful that by the time that is really an issue that he'll be on board.
I'm so jealous you got to see the all those gingerbread homes!
The Despicable Me one is AWESOME!!
