wednesday chit chat

I have stuff to say, but nothing worth it's own post, so it's chit chat time...
first, let's talk about my mental state (insert me laughing insanely).
Jack's little cold has spread now to everyone except Noah (he's always the last man standing.) We're all stuffy, coughing, icky...real cool, Jack. Real cool.
To make things more interesting, I'm still pulling double duty while Jarrod is crazy busy with work right now. Deeeep sigh.....

So let's talk about happier things, shall we?

This past weekend, we went to check out some waterfalls.
There's lots of waterfalls where we live, did you know that? I know, pretty cool.

Check out Noah in this picture above...he was SO excited he climbed so high.
I personally was uncomfortable with it...
the other two were crying as I held onto their arms because they couldn't climb it.
I promise it was more fun than I'm making it sound, it's just that wet slippery rocks that could lead to a painful death makes me nervous with little ones.

I ordered my Christmas card on Saturday.
And I got them yesterday! Wow, huh??
I'm so happy with how they turned out too...I kinda sorta "designed" it myself, which was basically just add our names and a piece of digital tape stuff, but I still wasn't sure how it would look printed.
I'm happy....

I'll show you the hold card later...yes, there's an inside.
Now I have to get them addressed and ready to go...maybe I'll be FIRST this year!!
(there is a secret competition to get your cards out first.)

I made this for breakfast this morning.
It's basically a dessert. Whoops.
I used raspberries rather than blackberries.
I liked it, Noah liked it, the little two didn't...oh well.
Can't win 'em all.

I've been trying to implement a few organizational things around the house.
There's things that are not running as smoothly as I'd like...
more on that later.

I stayed up till 2:30am finishing THIS book. I just couldn't stop. I was hooked!
It was soooo good. I am drawn to WWII stories for some reason. This was so good, about a soldier's wife on the French island of Guernsey. While her husband is away fighting, the Germans occupy her island and some of them move into the house next door. And yes, she falls in love with one of them. It is so good. I get so sucked into good books, I think about them for days. Now I need another book....

If not, you should go read it.
I'm SO excited that several of you are going to be doing this tradition this year with your families! SO excited! There are still a couple left, so email Robin if you want one! (moslander123@gmail.com).
Post about it! I wanna see pics of the Jesse Tree at your house too!

As for my Christmas stuff, I'm feeling generous today...
want free shipping off everything in my SHOP today?
Awww, that's so sweet right?
I know...just use the code ALICIASNICE till Friday and you can have free shipping!
Yeah!

I better go. I need to do something today...like iron.
Boo.

Random pic to finish off my random post....

Alicia, I am always amazed at how everything you do is so cute, like your adorable Christmas card! I'm afraid that I am always one of the last ones to send out cards. In fact, it's our tradition to send out New Year's cards!

I'm excited about your book recommendation. It's hard to find a great book. Thanks for sharing!

What a gorgeous family! Love the cards! And the pictures!

And I know what you mean about the sickness making it's way down the line. When one person gets sick in our house, it spreads like the plague.

Love your Christmas cards! I'd be happy if I had created those too! Have you read The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society? Same time and place as your last book...I've honestly read only half of it but have friends who have read it more than once. They looove it!

PS I love random posts! I almost like them better than well thought out posts because it's straight from your heart (and your camera's memory card!) :)

The mushroom reminds me of Becky - I think she did a post on them a little bit ago. She'll like your picture.

Oh my gorgeous! Love your waterfall pics. I'm ready to move to Asheville, forget Charleston.

Still jealous of how awesome your Christmas pics turned out. ; )

Same as Cottage Mommy, wondering if you read The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. I thought that's the book you were talking about and thought, "Hmm...that's not exactly right with the characters." GL&PPPS is a fast read (it's all letters), so I recommend it.

My favorite WWII novel has been A Long, Long Time Ago & Essentially True. I STRONGLY recommend it. My favorite read this year.

Your card is great! I think I am skipping cards this year. Is that bad? I would love to do the Jesse Tree, but I am thinking it would go over like a lead balloon with my teenagers. Boo.

Your chit chat provided the distraction from the sadness that hangs over me today. Thanks for letting us into your daily fleeting thoughts from time to time. Cherish the norms of daily life. Glad to see your family exploring AV~it's truly beautiful there. As Christians, we know our life here on Earth is BUT a breath~choose happiness....love your family...DANCE!! :) Your chit chat was exactly what I needed at THEE perfect time~may seem like mindless 'fleeting' thoughts, but...you never know when one's words will profoundly speak TO someone!! Thank you lady!!! (and I would've ate that breakfast dealy all by my lonesome~and I wouldn't have felt guilt!!!)

Hey lovely girl!
I get lost in books too.
And I love the Jesse Tree idea! Burke and I are in the middle of making twenty five ornaments with (some of) the names of Christ on them, so maybe the Jesse Tree will be next year. :)
Also, LOVE your Christmas line. LOVE. :)
