virtual coffee: my one decorated space

Good mornin'. Let's sit down for coffee. We'll be sitting at a borrowed dining table and while we sit at it, let's chat. Why a borrowed table you ask?
Because I sold my other one, along with 1/2 my belongings it felt like and still not all my stuff fit on the stupid truck. Talk about make you feel like a hoarder!

I used to decorate. I quite like it. But the picture above is the only real surface I have to decorate, so let's look at it....

ooooh, so pumpkin-y...and Thanksgiving-y.

You can keep looking while I keep talking; I know there's so much there to take in, it's ok to not make eye contact, I understand you wanting to gawk....

I had a great day yesterday...Jack's feeling a little under the weather, so not one, but two kids laid down for naps. Just a little cold, nothing serious.

So I got some stuff done....
organized my purse
straightened the garage
got lots done for my Christmas line coming out real quick
washed sheets
went to storytime (at a different library than where the world's crabbiest librarian works)

Successful Monday!

Ok, since I have you here I really want to talk about Christmas for just one sec...
I brought it up a few days ago and I know some of you aren't in the mood to get going on Christmas yet. I'll admit, it's not natural for me either. BUT I just want to let you know what I'm doing this week to lessen the load for next month...
because I want next month to be all cinnamon candles and holly branch fun!
I decided to plan out my whole week's to-do's and put one thing each day to get ready for Christmas...

Monday: print return address labels and address labels for cards (which I actually didn't do yesterday so I have to do today)
Tuesday: finalize gift list and homemade gifts list; make lists for specific stores
Wednesday: type a little bitty Christmas letter; I write a blog, I don't need to write a long letter...
Thursday: Look at last year's Christmas budget and make changes to this year's where needed
Friday: check on leftover wrapping paper and pick some up at Target today (I mainly just use that brown paper and use twine or stamps to make it cute)

I'm just sharing this because I was way too stressed last year and do not want that again...let's have a better year together, huh?? :)

It's about time you take off...I've got lots to tie up today for my Christmas etsy line. I'm hoping to have it listed Friday (or Saturday). I'll let you know. I finished a few things yesterday and am super excited to show you!

But check out my wreath when you leave. My mom mailed it to me.
She had to pick up some stuff at my old house and she picked up some twigs from the vines in the yard and made them into a wreath...
a little of my old house is now at my new temporary house.
How cool is that?

And watch out for this one as you leave. I told her to stay in her cage, but she must have  gotten out. Have I ever told you she's wild?
She's wild.
The sweet boy carrying my groceries to my car at the store the other day said that too.
"She's wild, I love it!"
(in his thick NC accent...can't you just hear it?? more like "wold" than wild you know?)

Yep, she's wold.

I loved having you over, sorry to kick you out. But she's wold and I've got lots to do.
If you're still in the mood for some java, go to Amy's, one of the coolest mama's around, for more!

xo,
{alicia}

OH! PS: If you have an extra minute, would you mind voting for me at the Homeschool Blog Awards?? Pretty please??
I was nominated for the best photos catagory...so flattered!

thanks!

I love your decorations!
I can't wait to get a few up of my own, although I don't have many Thanksgiving ones...oh well ;) I'll be thankful just to have a place to call my own!
Also I made my Christmas Planner & now I have to adjust the schedule to fit into about 6-1/2 weeks! Still it'll make the holidays less stressful & that is something worth singing about!!!
Have a great day! I can't wait to see what you get up in the store :)

*Sigh* I used to aim to be done with Christmas by Halloween. It was a competition with myself to be done so early that I could sit back and laugh at the craziness going on elsewhere. It felt so freeing. And yet this year I'm not feeling at all inspired for some people. Do you have any great suggestions for gifts for in-laws?

You're not the only one thinking about Christmas, I am too. Each year I vow to be organized and get things done ahead of time so that I'm not in a mad rush during December.

By the way, your one little decorated spot looks very pretty :)

i absolutely love the wreath that your mom sent you and the sentiment behind it. :)
moving can be hard, but it looks like you are settling in nicely. your vignette looks beautiful, too! sometimes we just need a space of our own, even if it is small, right?
somewhere to be creative!
i cannot wait to check out your new line for Christmas.
i know it will be awesome!
i'm with you on the brown wrapping paper. that's all we use, too! my inlaws always think i'm weird!
have a great day!

I LOVE the decor...it caught my eye as soon as I opened your blog. Now..can you come to my house and do the same thing? :-)

I try to do stuff like that then it just looks like a jumbled mess or my grandmas house...I'm hopeless.

Ok, so while I think the whole xmas thing is coming earlier and earlier I TOTALLY feel ya on getting 'er done now. So many times I wait till the last minute and my holiday is one big stress bucket. So I'm following your lead my dear and starting my xmas to do list now and "gettin' 'er done."

And that wreath is just darling and such a nice touch from the old house. :-)

Well, gotta run, but have a great day and thanks for coffee...I'm finally here before 9 p.m. it's a FREAKING miracle

BTW - I VOTED!

Hearing that your mom made a wreath from things from your old house brought tears to my eyes. What a thoughtful idea!
