my new backyard

Yesterday we decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather and travel the 6 miles (or something like that) to Blue Ridge Parkway.  It's a scenic route on a mission to trump all scenic routes.  It was a gorgeous Sunday drive.

Not to stereotype, but everyone here seems to eat fried chicken (said with a NC accent of course). And in South Dakota we do not have the privilege of dining at Bojangles. SO we thought we'd see what all the fuss was about. (also on Friday we went to an apple orchard and EVERYONE there had these big boxes from Bojangles and I was not about to feel left out again!) Bojangles is a great name by the way.
Our tailgate chicken dinner came with alllll the fixin's: spicy beans, coleslaw, dirty rice, and biscuits. (said with a NC accent again...what can I say. it's contagious)

A heart shaped chicken breast...really? We heart Bojangles :)

We walked on trails, stopped at look-out spots, found cool leaves and plants, sprinted passed "frequent bear sightings" signs.
Generally just stood in awe of our surroundings all day long.
Our minds couldn't help but gravitate to God's creativity and majesty.
What an awesome God to do this.
Wouldn't you just love a narrative of that day in creation?
"Now over here I'll just put 30 bajillion trees so people can drive through here someday and gawk at my creation."

Yes, He indeed put on a show for us yesterday.

And today starts a brand new week in our new environment.
I've made a list a mile long, just like always.
We're starting school up again today after a little "fall break".
And we're going to be doing some more exploring.

Happy Monday to you. And you. Any you!

xo,
{alicia}

When we lived in NC, we made it Ashville once. You are absolutely correct about the Blue Ridge Pkwy. It is absolutely beautiful. We also fell in love with Ashville.

Gotta Get-a, Gotta have-a Bojangles!
It's so greasy but contagiously delicious! Try their fries..mmm! Love the Blue Ridge Parkway, it's such a beautiful drive...especially this time of year! I live a few hours east of your new home and I am soooo jealous! One day we'll move there {When costco decides to plop a store there} and we'll live happily ever after on the blue ridge :)

We're a NC family that doesn't like Bojangles. The cajun spices and whatnot don't appeal to me. But Boberry bisquits and fried sweet potato pies are pretty good.

I love the picture of yourself on that drive. All those colors swirling around.

There's so much awesome beauty in the Parkway, but it's also sad to think about all the families that had to relocate so it could be built as a tourist destination. It's sort of a yin yang feeling. But I do enjoy the drive. So pretty.

Hi Alicia, I found your blog from the Frat Pack and Me.

I love the walk your family went on. All of those wonderful fall colors, what a wonderful sight they must have been. We've never eaten at a Bojangles either but it sure does look yummy.

aww, yes, the blue ridge parkway. this is probably the most beautiful time of year there. how perfect of God to plant you in NC in the middle of the crisp colors of fall!

y'all are so cute. ; )

i've lived in the south for nine years and have never been to bojangles and have said y'all maybe a handful of times (two being in this comment...lol).

i'm happy you're embracing these changes! hope you have a wonderful week learning and exploring.

You slowing down in the middle of a not-slow season makes me want to slow down too! :)

Your mountainous backyard is much prettier than the piedmont backyard here. Don't get me wrong though NC is gorgeous in general :) I'm loving the fall foliage that's starting to emerge, we never really got that in TX.
I have to laugh because we finally caved and tried Bojangles a few weeks ago!
It is so good :) I loved the fries.
I hope you have a wonderful rest of your week!
