| Elise, bride-to-be and Sophia, flower girl-to-be |
I love any good excuse for planning a good ol' bash. I love even more that I had the honor of throwing a wedding shower for Elise {the beautiful}, daugher of Robin {friend like a sista}. Sunday night we threw on our best June Cleaver garb, painted our nails, slathered on the red rouge, and had a good old fashioned bride-to-be party.

| Christiana, maid-of-honor, Robin, Elise...just for clarity's sake: Robin is "smoking" a piece of chalk. yes, this party was quite off the charts. It got quite out of control... |
I rounded up old aprons, tablecloths, furniture and what not.
I had to send the girls home with something, so we passed out these cookie mixes. I love the way they turned out. (this is tooooootally off the record, but I have absolutely no doubt that these cookies will NOT turn out. after i had made 1/2 of them, I realized the instructions I was following told me to put all this stuff in a jar when you so clearly need to mix your sugars with butter before moving on to the next steps. if they do not turn out, at least they look really cute and that's what really counts right?? what's on the OUTside...ok. moving on.)
We had to so something besides sit there and look pretty, and I wanted to find a game that was fun without being too cheeseballish. I found this idea on pinterest SOMEWHERE, but never actually pinned it, so I have NO idea where this idea is from, but if you know tell me and I'll give a little credit here. But the idea was a twist on the traditional wrap-somebody-up-in-tp-and-make-them-sorta-look-like-a-bride game.
We started with two dress forms and two baskets of sheer fabric and doo dads.
I was super impressed with the two teams and what they came up with...
Aren't they so pretty?? I'd wear them any day...or wedding day, or whatever...
Although I do love throwing parties, I know my limits. To keep things simple, but fun we decided to do just desserts, namely cupcakes and cookies. We did salted carmel chocolate, cookies and cream, and peanut butter chocolate cupcakes. The two cupcakes that are linked are dangerous...click at your own risk. Unfortunately for you I printed the pb cupcake recipe off and have no idea where it came from now.
While we got the cupcakes set up and got ready to open gifts, the ladies all filled out advice cards for Elise. I had typed up phrases for the guests to finish with their advice. It's innapropriate for me to write, but we decided afterward that each card could be finished with one phrase....I will NOT write it, but you can probably guess. Don't you think??? It just seemed to fit everytime, much to our comic relief :D
I loved making these banners. I've seen them all over...just random vintage sheets and poms, lace, doilies, whatever you've got laying around...fun!
And then the gifts...my little girl was so enthralled.
She got some super great gifts, including a bunch of handmade gifts, which is always so fun.
We partied hard. The flower girl almost fell asleep...
What a fun night we had! And the best part about throwing an all girl party?? They stayed and helped clean up ! yeah!! I loved being able to do this for you Elise...love ya!

This is the most adorable party ever! I love everything about it from the aprons, to the chalkboard to the cookie jars that aren't going to turn out. And where can I get one of those cute lace ponchos your friend is wearing?
Oh My Cuteness Batman!
-YOU are amazing!
-YOU have a 2nd (3rd, 4th, . ..) career here missy.
-I want to live by you so I can come to these wild and crazy parties.
-Will you travel for party planning?
YOU ROCK GIRLFRIEND!!!!
Thanks for sharing. The only thing better would be being there. That theme sort of reminds me of my bridal shower (Real Housewives). We had awful jello salad instead of yummy cupcakes. Your display is spectacular.
I throw parties like this in my dreams. This is spectacular. I love the vintage whimsy everywhere.
Can you please sell those banners in your etsy store?! I know you said they're easy to throw together, but I'm sewing machine-less!!! Help!
I want to be your real life friend and have another baby just so you can throw me a shower. : )
Where were you when I was having wedding showers??? THis one is RIGHT up my alley! I love everything you did.
I'm so impressed ! this should be a spread in a magazine... the dressing the dress form game is a fabulous idea ! btw, your daughter is going to be an adorable flower girl :)
Fantastic shower! I love so many details - the apron garland, the vintage sheet garland, the advice cards. It was beautiful!
Looks like so much fun!
Oh my goodness, I'm in LOVE with this. What a great party, I love all the little vintage details. The 4th photo, the one of Sophia standing at the table with all the aprons overhead is just adorable.
Tricia :)
alicia, this shower is so incredibly cute I'm squealing over here! SQUEALING! Love it! Your love and thought was just oozing out all over.

WOW! If I could have chosen a theme 13 years ago for my bridal shower...! Thanks for going outside of the box on this--you've got my wheels turning!
This ROCKS MY WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love that banner. And the chalk smoking.
This is awesome!! I love every detail!! Bravo!! I pinned it! :) And I would love to feature this in my Soiree Day, may I?
Alicia,
I am just stopping by to let you know that I'll be featuring you tomorrow during STICKER time!
You inspired me to make a new sticker!
I hope to see you there!
Oh, how ADORABLE! You really went all out with your creativity!
Have you thought of making a "Shutterfly" book with all the photos? It would make a lovely wedding gift for the bride. :@
OMG!! How much do I love this?!! I would love if you would come over and share this at my linky party starting at midnight tonight.

this is FANTASTIC! :) you are one talented girl!
My heart smiled at the flower girl sucking her thumb. That is definitely one of my favourite things about my son - his adorable thumb-sucking habit. (Beautiful party too!)
OK I know that is an old post...but I stumbled upon it and I was wondering where you got your typewriter?! :) I have always wanted one, and haven't found it so far. I know your busy with the baby coming, so don't feel bad not getting back to me now. Thanks Alicia!
