What I learned this weekend:
Brandi Carlile + Duluth, MN + old iron factories = best bday gift ever!
Jarrod did well, really well for my birthday this year...which isn't for another week, so this is a terrific precursor.
I am a music lova, my kitchen is my concert hall...just ask Sophie, she's my backup singer.
Brandi is playing in there a lot...probably 90% of the time.
When I saw her on Austin City Limits this winter, I was on a mission to see her live.
Amazing talent, amazing....
Like I said, it was general seating so we were something like 10th in line.
Our seats were, um, pretty darn good...
We've seen some biggie concerts;
Dave Matthews Band
Brandi topped the list (well, Jarrod said she tied with Jack, but he's a guy so of course that's what he'd say).
She blew the doors off that old iron factory (which is a totally cool place to do a concert, by the way).
At one point, her and the band even sang unplugged...amazing. (somebody help me stop saying amazing.... amazing.)
Loved this concert, we will see her again...no doubt, but here's the icing on my birthday cake:
Myself and about 10 others were "waiting for cabs" by her bus after the show and everyone had pretty much cleared out...Brandi came out and met us, shook hands, hugged, autographed, took pics.
Talk about down-to-earth girl...she's such a doll.
She turned 30 this year, which is not what I'm turning but I'm close, real close, and it made me feel oddly better that Brandi was older than me...don't ask me to explain it, I just liked it...so there.
Best birthday gift evah! Thank you, my love and thanks Brandi for being thoroughly entertaining...we love you too :)
Ya, he bought me a t-shirt too. Now I'm a groupie...it's official.
