Boys Camp...Not Girls, For Very Good Reasons

We are not a big camp-y type family, but it just sounds like one of those cool things to do.
All outdoorsy and nature-ish...especially for a little boy, or a big boy.
So when Jarrod suggested he take the boys for their very first camp out, not counting our backyard, I supported this endeavor wholeheartedly.
Mostly because I wasn't invited and that was just fine with me...it sounded like a pretty quiet night for me.

I will never know how much sugar they consumed or how many rude noises were made, but when Ms. Sophie and I joined them on Sunday at their campsite for lunch they were all smiles.  Noah journaled about the whole experience and it sounded like a pretty fun time...sunflower seeds and Frisbees. Stories by the fire and hot dogs.

It was only about 1/2 hour from where we live, but we've never really explored the area so the boys thought they'd take us girls on the hiking trail since they of course were very acquainted with the area at that point...

S. and I were not prepared...we both had sandals and skirts.
The boys laughed hysterically at our unpreparedness, as we swatted at bugs and eeewwed and eeeked.  To defend myself somewhat, I usually am not that much of a priss, but I was very under prepared. Very.

I found a tick crawling up my leg and nearly peed my pants...um, skirt. Whatever.
Lyme disease is a very serious thing.
I don't want that! No one does.
It's ok to freak out, right?
Oh my word, I'm a priss!
(ok, yes...but this weekend I used a drill, lots of times...with one of those spade bit thingies (I just asked Jarrod what they were called, but it still counts) so there, quit making fun of the tick thing...)

This was before the tick thing....when I still kinda liked it.

Either way, the boys had a blast. They talked about it all day.
They will do it again...they have to, they bought a ton a camp stuff, they're committed to more camping.
Maybe we'll be invited next time. (but I doubt it strongly)

In other news, while the boys roughed it this weekend, I slaved away on about 10,000 projects. Sophia helped...we went junking on Saturday and bought some stuff that needed some TLC, so we worked on that together.

Also, I worked on a new facebook page for my little blog.
I was inspired by the Lemonade Makin' Mama...
she has one for her blog and I love how she does little updates here and there between posts.
Consider it just little teensy tiny posts via Facebook...fun right?!
SO...you can either click "like" on my sidebar, or go here.

Hope y'all had a great weekend...I have lots to do and lots to show ya, so stay tuned :)

What a great weekend- for the boys and the girls! And just to let you know, I love to camp and we spend a lot of time 'in the great outdoors' but if I had a tick crawling up my leg- I would have most definitely peed my skirt too!
That picture of you is absolutely STUNNING! You are gorgeous girlfriend!
Can't wait to be inspired by all your fun projects! And can't wait to see you for your next camp trip . . . in Glacier Park . . . hint hint!
Have a fabulous day my sweet friend!

I would've peed my skirt as well over the tick thing. I am willing to be a bit outdoorsy as long as no critter are involved.

When my husband and son go camping with the Scouts, it"s always a blast to be home with my girls! We go shopping and out to eat for lunch and dinner! I'm not a fan of insects or outdoor plumbing, so I can easily say, "Have fun without me!".
