virtual coffee: beach crafts, etc.

Welcome to Tuesday, the part of the week where you come over for coffee and I tell you stuff I think you need to know...as in, I tell you about crafts I made two months ago and forgot to tell you about.
So...let's have one of these while we chat.

Several weeks ago, we took a little beach trip and had a super good time.
But being the crazy person that I am, I decided it was important to sew all my kids accessories to take along the day before we left...
in the midst of finishing school, baseball, piano recital, and art show.

But anyway, I did it.  I stayed up late mostly because I had an idea and I'm just stubborn that way....

For starters, I wanted a big bag to take to the beach.
I found a plain canvas bag at the craft store and added an "H" to it.
Just a little iron on paper stuff and then I stitched around it.

Next for the boys.
I hardly ever sew them anything. I'm making stuff for Sophia all the time.
It's just harder to sew for a boy.
So, I came up with the idea for little pencil bags to take along in the car
and sunglasses cases.
We bought them all new sunnies for the beach and I thought they could
carry their gum, pens, pencils, etc. in the pen bag.
This worked great on the plane...everyone had their own things...in their own bags.

I added the monogram just to keep them separate.

Then for sister, I just made her a sunnies case.
She already had a pencil bag and I was falling asleep at the sewing machine.

So...let's go out to the garden now and I'll show you what's shaking out there.
We planted really late this year, so ours is probably behind...but it's getting some little buds and growing soooo fast!

See those little yellow flowers?? They'll be tomatoes soon.
I can't believe how fast things grow. I can't imagine having to LIVE off the produce in your garden.  How stressful would that be!!?!

See those little bumps?
Those will be brussel sprouts!
We've never grown those before...just an experiment thing.

Now I'm gonna have to send you home....with some jam, that is.
I will be sharing the recipe later this week.
I better go get something done today!
Errands to run.
Sewing to do.
Kind of wanted to sneak in some sun tan time ;)
(you know, all the important stuff)
Oh, and I just wanted to share that I wore my pj's all day yesterday.
Ya...real cool.
But, contrary to what you might be thinking, I had a super productive day...
just in my pj's.
Just wanted to confess that...
ok...bye!

ps: come on over to Amy's and drink coffee alllll day!!

I love your crafty things.. wonderful! And I was just saying to my husband how stressful it would be having to survive on your own garden.. yikes! :) Good for you for planting one, up here in Canada our weather hasn't been great and we're a little bit water logged. ;)

I have two kinds of pj days. One is all rest - watch movies - drink coffee etc. And the other is hyperproductive. I love both.

Fondly,
Glenda

So jealous...I wish I could sew, but unfortunately I flunked that part of Home Ec. and never recovered. And jam...WOW! I'm looking forward to that recipe.

Thanks for coffee...oh, and hanging out in your PJ's is AWESOME I wish I could. :-)

Have a great week.

I don't know why, but I've had a real thing for the zig zag stitch lately, and it looks super cute on your monograms!
