It could've been the fact that we're having a night time potty issue at our house and I was woken up about 3,000 times on Thursday night.
It also could've been due to my ridiculous idea to do a rummage sale next weekend and getting ready for that.
Either way, yesterday I was crabby.
Super crabby.
If you called me, there's a good chance I pulled the ol' sidebar trick and ignored you altogether, choosing to bask in my crabbiness alone.
It's not all fun and happiness here, folks.
Just trying to be transparent.
Just trying to be transparent.
There's no doubt that some of my crabbiness was derived right here:
My boys love their Legos, but for reals: HOW do you not let them take over your life?
I've tried to have them keep them all in one play area, and for the most part they do.
But everytime I walk by that one area I feel my chest tighten and feel the urge to lie down for a while.
Open to suggestions here....
My kids couldn't decide what they were doing yesterday.
One minute Legos, the next was grocery store, the next was baking.
Normally all these things are just fine as long as they don't overlap each other,
overlapping right over the "pick up" part.
So sooner or later there was a Legos-at-the-grocery-store-bake-off going on.
sigh.....
So then, at around 5pm when the day was mostly over I looked around at my disastrous house and realized they had actually had a pretty darn good day.
Besides me and my antics, they were probably having the most productive day they've ever had.
Besides me and my antics, they were probably having the most productive day they've ever had.
The muffins were baked.
The grocery store, a huge financial success.
And in between my eyebrow creasing, cussing under my breath, pitting out, rummage sale gathering tantrum I found this:
A giant box, full of fabric scraps and twine snippings, sealed with Scotch tape and a La Famille @ Home business card; a box by the door ready to mail out.
Eyes welling, I squeezed my little people and realized (once again) how much they watch me, love me, adore me.
I'll excuse their mess...I adore them too.
Now: off to have a day-old muffin and an iced coffee.

YES!!! It worked:))) My new connection is speedy gonzolas fast too...YAY! That was just too sweet Alicia. They are watching you. Gotta love that.
Yep, we have many days like that too. I was coping fine with our own little Lego mess yesterday {Legos spread everywhere while great creativity was taking place} and then I stepped on one ... and that ended my patience. But in the end, what a blessing to have all those kiddos to make all those messes. :)
I remember when my son was little he was obsessed with Legos too! We couldn't even walk into the playroom because the Legos covered the floor! I would use a rake to pick them all up! We still have his collection, and I really need to give them away...but sounds like you don't need anymore! lol!
Sounds like mamma needs a little break . . . extra long quiet time . . . a good movie . . . a great book . . . a night out with friends . . . a good date with your husband etc. (your choice)
Fondly,

This post couldn't have come at a better time for me... as I have had my own very grouchy day (and even more than gruochy, but that's more than I care to admit.) ;) My hubby is out of town for the weekend, I have a 4 year old who is litterally vibrating with energy and testing everything I have, and a 1 year old who's number one goal at the moment seems to be to destroy the house. I have yelled, screamed and pointed my finger too many times today.. *sigh* I love them. I'm going to kiss them goodnight, have some quiet time tonight and pray to my Lord for a better day tomorrow! :)
Oh this was such a sweet post!! Really you handled it well!!
Great post and you did handle it well.
I remember the legos days well, too. My girls loved them, but I hated stepping on them in the middle of the night because they hurt like heck!
Sweet post, and you are a wise women to enjoy these little moments with your kids because they are so fleeting! I am in the process of packing-up my oldest daughter for college. I am having a nervous breakdown! *sadface*
Alicia! I found your blog through your happy mantle being featured somewhere and I just love it (both your mantle and blog). I have to say, normally I really don't love it when people have music on their blog BUT yours has become my new playlist for working. I currently just want to load your blog instead of pandora or itunes. You have fantastic taste in music.... and everything else too.... and after reading all your about me and stories and such... i'm encouraged by how transparent you are and that you clearly love the Lord. So glad I found you!

We have loads of Legos around here too. Sometimes, if I'm feeling particularily crabby and there happens to be one on the floor when I'm vacuuming, I'll just suck it right up.
