hutchinson annual art show

We have just finished our third year of homeschooling.

This is a big deal to us.  We take teaching our children very seriously and at this point,

wouldn't want it any other way.

Getting through a year of schooling is a big accomplishment, for me and for the kids,

so we like to celebrate!

So for the third year in a row, we've hosted an end-of-the-year art show.

I say art show, but it's really just a big ol' show your stuff time for my kids.

This year was super busy and I almost scrapped it, but then I remembered it's these little things that make memories and I needed to get over myself...oh, and I called my mom to help me...that was also a decision maker :)

She came and helped me set up, baked some goodies and just generally supported me.

I love her. She means the world to me.

I said earlier that our last unit in science was about aviation; how it all works and the history of it.

A big part of our unit was on the Wright Brothers.

I knew we were going to be seeing the site of the first flight, so we did lots of reading and learned so much.

The boys initially were not very happy with me, but I made them do an oral report on the Wright Bros. for our guests.  It just made sense: the Wright Bros....the Hutch Bros.

No brainer.

 

All the guests got a card with a question on it and they answered in first person.

It was the cutest things ever :)

They did such a great job...they even added a little humor.

Sophia, of course, could not NOT do some sort of talent, so she had memorized a poem earlier this year

and shared that with everyone...
