Hey all!
Today I'm taking you on a little tour of my digs....
I'm joining Toni @ A Bowl Full of Lemons on her tour of homes.
Tour of homes, as in, if you've got some time to kill and a large cuppa jo, you can tour a whole bunch of great homes.
Brace yourselves...there's a ton o' pics in this post...don't get too bored on me, k?
(sidenote: the picture above is from last summer...our house looks pretty bleak on the outside right now. Spring hasn't exactly sprung here in SD.)
Come on in :)
Our house is an oldie, but a goodie.
We house searched FOREVER to find an old home with updates, like electric/plumbing...
all that boring jazz.
We wanted our $$ to go into the pretty stuff and actually makes you feel good :)
So we found the 1932 historical home about 5 years ago,
and have enjoyed making every inch of it our own.
{Living Room}
I've been doing some changes in this room.
If you're new here, you can check them out HERE.
I pulled out my (small) birdcage and fan collections.
I'm always on the lookout for more.
And then on to the kitchen....
I look out these windows a lot.
They face the backyard...which was very important to me when we were house searching.
I love to be able to watch my kids play while I'm in the kitchen.
They bring me rocks ALL the time.
I don't know how that ever got started.
But I feel bad throwing them out...so my collection in on my window.
I saw the coolest idea in Cottage Living Magazine years ago (does anyone else miss that mag?) with this chalkboard wall idea where you mix your own paint color with tile grout to make chalkboard paint....
so this whole wall of my kitchen is chalkboard.
Whoever said you can't write on the walls? :)
Ok, now upstairs....
at the landing is our sunroom.
This room is mostly used for lounging and reading.
Books and coffee.
I use the kids' art to decorate with a lot.
#1. it's cheap
#2. it's cool
#3. it's original art...which is also cool
The boys share a room...I don't think I've ever shown you my kids' rooms...have I?
Anywho, I started doing a vintage-airplane thing in here...but they've started incorporating their love of Star Wars too.
Little bit of everything.
Their little desk was one of my first furniture projects.
The desk got a coat of green and the drawers were decoupaged with old maps.
I still love it...7 years later.
Yes...that's my baby with Mr. Pres.
We were at a rally of some sort and he pulled the ol' pick-up-the-baby-and-wave trick.
It just so happened to be my baby.
The little squirt made the USA Today and MSN.com. It was a very exciting Halloween 2002!

Sister Bear's room:
Pretty much everything in her room is old or older.
The quilt on her bed is a family quilt over 100 years old.
Her pink dresser was $15 at a rummage sale...year 1892.
That wall hanging is from an antique shop for $10.
I love it's kitchy-ness.
Her closet has been converted to a mini kitchen. We removed the door and painted the inside a fun green.
She loves her little kitchen.
Well, that's the end of the tour, folks.
Thanks so much for coming along on our little tour.

Your home is so cozy and charming. I somehow found this tour and have been following it tonight. I just wanted to drop you a note to let you know how much I enjoyed "visiting" your home, especially all the vintage and antique touches. That desk with the decoupaged drawers is great and your daughter's room was my favorite room. So sweet and pretty.
