I know I told you I wasn't going to do any more living room posts, but in my defense, I don't think I gave a proper before and after post.
So for those of you that don't remember, my little ol' living room started out looking something like this:
and now:
{after}
{before}
{after}
{before}
{after}
I flip flopped the room to (hopefully) create a more open feel...swaping the couch and the new chairs (ikea).
We exchanged the rug with a new jute one and I slipcovered the couch.
I was planning on painting and making new curtains, but I decided I liked the color and didn't feel like sewing curtains...so there.
I love the airy feel now...my plan is to swap out pillows, etc. depending on the season or holiday.
How about you?
Have you done any updates lately??

alicia, it just looks great! how i wish i could just come over and sit on your lovely couch! seeing it again, is just more inspiration to get mine done! but, i need more fabric, and my car battery is dead...again. so, i looks like it just wasn't meant to be for today. you did a great job!
Your new room looks really fantastic :o) It definitely has an open and airy, but still warm and inviting feel.
Looks great!
Good afternoon, Alicia,
I do love your new living room arrangement...it will be fun to see how you change your pillows for the season!
And a huge congratulations on your feature in the Country Living magazine. Last Friday, hubby and I were driving from Aberdeen to Fargo (this is when I look at my magazines) and I just exclaimed out loud!! I recognized your pillows right away...I am so excited for you.
Now, I'm wondering if you would mind if I did a blog post in the near feature that shows your pillow in the magazine...maybe even use the photo of you...and links back to your shop and blog?? I am just so proud to know that you are a fellow aberdeen etsian and blogger.
Have a Blessed Easter. Enjoy your lovely children. They grow up and fly the nest so fast!
Take care ~Natalie
Love what you did here Alicia!
The seating looks so cozy and inviting and the whites are beautiful!
Love how you changed the armoire too..so cute and with that figure-form near it!
Gorgeous!!

I love it! I love the wall with the desk, I'm a bookshelf junkie. I love them as much as my books. And your IKEA chairs are great too.
Gorgeous!!!! I cannot believe such a huge transformation!!!! Beauty-ful!!!
Is this where yall do school?? If so, what a perfect space!!
Your vision came to fruition!
How awesome!

Love it!
Looks great! I think the biggest change, aside from all the lovely white slipcovers {thumbs up} is the wall of bookshelves. It looks great and really gives that end of the room focus and purpose. It cozies it up, too. Love what you've done! Isn't that the best feeling, to make it more "you"? Love that!
it's gorgeous...very light and bright...adore the 'no smoking' signage...what a happy place!

I love it! I'd love to hear more about how you went about slip covering your couch, figuring how much fabric to buy and putting it all together!
I recently found your blog and you are an inspiration to me as a fellow soon-to-be home schooling mama, myself!
that is a great before and after. i love ut all! i have been wanting to change out my dark living room furniture and my boring brown couch! i love the spot for the kids and studying, etc too. looks great! and i love that piano, we have one too but yours is really cool!
Your living room looks amazing Alicia...so cozy. I wish you could come over and sew me some slipcovers for my couch :)

Love it~~~~ I have done a few updates. I unpacked ALL my photographs, and will be hanging them up or something this weekend. I also bought a really colorful pillow to add to my huge colorful pillows on my couch. (I might be a color addict.) And sifted a few things around as I slowly continue to unpack.
It DOES look so airy...I LOVE the look. ....white though...so DARING with little ones!!! :D
I love that
HGTV show Secrets
of a Stylist and
was just catching
up on several last
night. In almost
every episode, she
"flip-flopped" the
room, so you are on
the cutting edge of
design, my friend!!
I usually swap out
our winter slipcover
on the couch for the
summer one, right
about now, but somehow
the cozy one still
seems right! {I even have
the fireplace on today.}
Happy Easter, Alicia!
xx Suzanne
