mission possible!

Saturday's Mission: throw a fun party for 8 spy experts.
We started the day with the coolest pancakes ever!
My kids are addicted to Star Wars, in case you didn't know.
And when I saw these pancake molds at Williams Sonoma,
they were in my basket faster than you can say
Obi-Wan-Kenobi!
I'm so bummed i didn't get a photo of the finished Darth Vader and Storm Trooper, but here's a little Yoda action for ya...

I have to say, I was quite out of my element for this party.
I have no idea what spies do, so I just kinda winged it...and asked my little spies lots of questions. :)

When the kids got to the party, we started them off with a little activity of making their own ID badges.
Now that I'm done with this, an ID badge for a spy seems a little oxymoron-ish...
spies don't want to be ID'd, right? Oh well, they thought it was fun.
ID badge + fingerprint + plastic name tag thingy
done!

I had to include this one...so stinkin' cute.  I sort of wanted to kiss her little spy cheeks instead of take her photo :)

Cupcake grenades....Kaboom!!

Even though there were 8 little boy spies and 2 little girl spies, they were so chilled out and well behaved!
I was a little shocked by this.  They just waited till we told them what was next and were so
excited for everything...
very sweet bunch of kiddos!

After some noshes, the spies were sent on a mission...made up by me and my sweet brother, who does whatever I tell him to: can you baby sit?  like, for 4 hours?  can you help me move some furniture? can you grab a loaf of bread at the store? can you help me plan a mission for a spy party, blow up 25 balloons, carefully steal a fortune out of a fortune cookie and replace it with a clue? oh, and help me set this all up? THANKS!
Serious, best brotha evah! Luv you, Jess!

SO, where was I? Yes the mission...we had clues hidden everywhere.  In the sunroom were 25 balloons (courtesy of Uncle Jesse) and one of them had a clue, so they had to pop them all to get to the clue.
But first they had to make it past the laser trip wire. :)

Yes, there was a clue in there.  They were having a blast, crunching, eating, sort of looking for a clue.

We also gave the kids some disguises....

Super tricky glasses with noses attached, making it very difficult to identify each person...

The sweetest staches I'd ever seen in my life.
I laughed hysterically!

My uncle (bottom right) had his stuck on so good, it ripped skin off when he removed it!
Ouch! Sorry Art!!

Just look at him! How did this happen!!?!
Where did 9 years go?
But it's ok, I'm good with it.  It's a new chapter...big kid era, here we come!

We also had a dart war, which my husband gladly organized.
He is still obsessed with Nerf Guns...help me!

You know the hardest thing when you plan super fun parties like these are coming up with new ideas for the next one...lol. I don't have to worry about this year you have done all the thinkin' for me. Looks like we will be doing a spy partay! Hope that is okay with you?! If I post about it I will even write compliments to you. That is a party I wish I could go to, just like when people have laser tag ones for the kids and I always offer to be the mom that goes in, who doesn't love that kind of stuff. And I have to mention that those pancake molds are to die for, not to mention they would look good next to our Star Wars cookbook my son recieved as a gift a few years ago. Things like, Yoda Soda and Wookie Cookies. So cool!
