i {heart} books

Did you know yesterday was Dr. Suess' birthday?  Or Read Across America Day? Or something like that?

Well, I did...only because I read it in Family Fun magazine...but still.
When I breezed through my latest issue of Family Fun and saw their idea for throwing a book party, I knew I had to do it!

I invited a few friends that also homeschool that would appreciate my zest for books and reading as well.
And I threw a glorified play date.

I hot glued chunks of cardboard together making a stamp, all of these were different widths.
And used them with paint to stamp onto a canvas bag, making their very own library bags.
I don't know if there's anything I like watching more than little kids, elbow deep in paint with their tongues out with concentration.
Then we made some personalized bookmarks and sent everyone home with a bag full of gummy worms...
to snack on while they were reading, of course. :)

happy reading!

This is so cute and fun, Alicia (just like you.) I loved the book bags especially.

I used to throw a book worm party and our snack was cupcakes with gummy worms crawling out.

I must, because you are my friend, give you one warning. Your kids will grow up and LOVE BOOKS and they will always get third floor apartments without elevators . . .and yup, you will have to help them carry all those stack and stack of boxes of books up three flights of stairs.

Fondly,
Glenda
