living room redo: I

This little living room project is probably going to be reveled in a series of posts, since it's
probably going to take a while.
But I'm bound and determined to get it done before March.
So I got busy painting yesterday on my TV cabinet.
I loved the red and it was a little bittersweet painting over it since it was one of the first projects I ever did,
as far a redoing furniture.

But I love how it turned out....

Before
(well, sort of...I remembered to do a "before" after I'd started.)

Painted cream:

Then I sanded and did a little glaze over the top.

Here's after paint...

Here's after sanding...

And here's after using a little watered down black paint rubbed around here and there.
(I almost always use pecan stain for this step, but I'm out.)

DONE!

One project done and only about 12 to go!
Oh, but my couch now has two slipcovered arms and half of a back.  That's good news!

You better just watch out, Couch, or I might just slipcover the rest of you this weekend!!

Living Room Project To Do List:
-paint TV cabinet
-make slipcover for couch
-paint
-build shelves (jarrod)
-sew curtains

If you're looking for me this weekend, you may want to check my sewing room :)
Have a happy Friday!!

I love the new paint finish. You did a great job. And how perfect that the red still peeks through a bit. So pretty. I'm your linky neighbor at Feathered Nest Friday. I hope you pop over and say 'hi'.

Hi Alicia~ It looks fantastic all white and shabby! I had a piece that I painted red at one point and loved it- until I painted it white! Then it was insanely cute! I love how paint transforms pieces so much! Thanks for sharing this at Feathered Nest Friday! :)
