If you read my post on my craft room dilemma last week, you
know I was trying to make a decision about whether nor not to
convert our sunroom into a workspace or keep my current space in the basement and make it more functional.
Well, the vote went to the basement.
And my "full of ideas" mama just happened to be here the same
day you sweeties gave me all kinds of ideas and tips about my room.
My mom gave me some great ideas on how to improve the basement room...
I had no vision what-so-ever, and it was really getting to me.
An uninspiring space = me, being uninspired :(
It's a total mess.
In my defense, I had just made a thrift store and Walmart
run and dropped everything in here.
It's not normally this bad, but I'm just trying
to keep it real for y'all.
I didn't pick up anything...
So, here it was....
Craft room redo--before
I can honestly tell you, this is the most unplanned,
sporadic "fix-up" I've ever done.
I usually plan, plan, plan.
I had no idea I would be redoing my craft room when I woke up that morning.
All it really took was some fresh paint on the walls,
more shelves, and some rearranging.
It was actually really fun to do...it helped that
my sweet mama took my kids Thursday night til Saturday :)
Most of my issues were the lack of organization.
OCD people like me need some sort of system...structure...SOMETHING with labels!!
Also, the lack of light was a big issue.
That was super simple to change...I can't believe we didn't do it before!
I didn't want to spend a ton of moola,
so I tried to repurpose anything I could.
A lot of the containers on the shelves I had,
and the rest were from Walmart for $1.50-3.50 each.
I would like some new chairs in here as well, and I'm thinking of getting one from Crosley Furniture.
The curtain was a big piece of fabric I had and wasn't using.
I bought two rolls of red grosgrain ribbon and sewed them
on to the bottom.
To attach it to the counter, I sat underneath it and stapled it up with a staple gun. Then I hot glued it where it was still a little droopy.
The color palette I chose is a little irregular for me,
but it feels so fresh and clean...I love it.
Sometimes a change is good.
I had printed these black and white labels off of MarthaStewart.com to use as place cards for Thanksgiving, but I never used them.
I thought they'd be perfect for this...then I just matted them on to plain red scrap paper.
Decoupaged clipboards for holding important papers.
Thanks for checking out my new space...
if you're looking for me, I'm probably here...
Have a great Monday.
