When I decorate at Christmas, I don't have a ton of tubs filled with decorations because most of what I use is snipped off trees :)
I do use artificial garland and I've never made my own, but I thought I'd try this year.
It was actually pretty easy....
gather your supplies.
I used cedar branches, and cut them off my parents trees. But there's tons of great greens right now.
Measure how long you want your garland to be and cut a piece of wire that long.
Start with a bigger sprig of greenery and wrap the end of the wire around the stem. Cover the wire and stem with floral tape.
Add your next piece of greenery, making sure to overlap to cover up the tape.
Keep wrapping and over-lapping until the whole wire is covered.
Stand back and admire...so much better when it's the real thing :)
I used my garland on the mantle.
I added in some sticks, burlap stockings from a few years ago, a wreath, and a little tin sign.
So there you have it...my mantle and a little project :)
I hope you're having fun with your Christmas crafting...
have a great day!

That is FABULOUS!!! I love that, and I used fresh this year, but your mantle is superb!
girl that is just gorgeous. you have a wonderful style!!
Mmmm...I'd love to smell your home. That's the beauty of real--the warm scents it adds.
That's just gorgeous!
And I love it. I used a lot of fresh too this year, and it just has made such a difference to me.
Real... definitely has more personality. I like your old tin. I think it sets the entire mantel off!
Take care,
Michelle
I've always wanted to try my hand at making my own garland. It looks so lovely and I bet the smell is great.
Your mantel is filled with holiday cheerfulness. I love your sign and adorable stockings!
This looks wonderful Alicia! I love that big piece of tin that you hung your wreath on and that little joy to the world sign :)
I would LOVE to have fresh garland! It is lovely. I really like how you wrapped berries onto it.
I keep picturing your parents trees getting smaller and smaller! :) I have been having the real vs. fake debate with myself! I have never had a real tree but would love to try it! I'm pretty such I'm such a nerd I would be allergic to it though! Since I don't have any trees at my house I may have to sneak over to my neighbors and do some clipping! ha!
Oh my. So pretty!
I love having fresh pine in my home. Your mantel looks so good... I LOVE it:)
LOVE IT. I think it looks beautiful. I Love those darling stockings...did you make them?
It is beautiful! With Joy, Carey
Loving this mantle Alicia! I love the fresh branches and that tin is delightful! It looks beautiful! Thank you for sharing at my party!
How perfect and bet it smells divine! I always like to use real stuff (greenery, tree, etc...) but this year I was so behind I had to break out all the fake. Always next year. Your home looks gorgeous.
