What a perfect afternoon I've had.
Sitting at my kitchen table with my computer
and steaming hot chai tea.
I can hear my boys in the backyard, playing in the freshly fallen snow. And it's still falling.
Beautiful, fat flakes...love that.
And my baby girl's sleeping upstairs...nothing sweeter than watching your kids fall asleep. I love those little sighs and "jumps" when they "fall off cliffs" as they fall asleep.
Afternoons have always been my time to be quiet and think.
And I love it when it actually works out to sit, drink tea.
Everyone's happy...especially mom :)
As I'm sitting here, I'm making a list of all the things I want to get done this weekend:
-buy tree
-deck my halls :)
-finish some things for my shop
I'm not sure if it's the quietness, but when I have a silent moment to think, I often have these thoughts that pass through my mind that crack me up.
Like yesterday, as I was driving, I saw a woman on a ladder putting Christmas lights around her windows outside. She had a really mad look on her face (as I probably do when I put up Christmas lights) and she had a cigarette dangling from her lips.
You know, like when someones smoking and they're not hanging onto it, just letting it hang there? Well that was her.
And I have to admit, I busted out a little chuckle to myself.
I instantly envisioned a thought bubble above her head reading:
"Merry Stinkin' Christmas!"
Ha!
Then today, I thought about it again...and you know,
everyone and their dog pretty much celebrates Christmas right?
But there's so many people that don't enjoy it, but look at it as a chore or something that they have to do...buy gifts, go to Christmas concerts, put up lights!
How often we miss it...why we do what we do for this CrAzY season.
I will be the first one to admit, I haven't been super excited this Christmas. I still sort of feel like I'm back in September actually.
But I decided today that tomorrow we're getting our tree and I'm getting my happy face on. :)
I've decided to focus on the Reason that we celebrate...the real Reason for all the hub-bub.
I was also thinking about how strange our religion probably seems to other non-Christians...
So, God made a virgin pregnant that gave birth to God's son
and He ended up saving the world?
Really? Hmmm....
Yes! He did!! Strange, but so true.
We serve an amazing God who is never short on creativity.
Never short on creating a fabulous story.
But the coolest thing about His stories is that they're TRUE.
All TRUE!
I'll leave you with this song....I adore Sara Groves and I love this song :)
Be sure to mute my music player at the bottom first.
Enjoy :)
