Our house is pretty old...like 80 years old.
And that's just what we were looking for.
We searched forever to find something that didn't need a lot of updating (like electrical and all that boring stuff), but still had a lot of charm and character.
We've lived here for about 4 1/2 years and we've done a lot of work to make it how we want it.
We've lived here for about 4 1/2 years and we've done a lot of work to make it how we want it.
Most of what we've done is cosmetic, but still work all the same.
One of our big projects was our upstairs bathroom.
We fixed this up about 3 years ago...long before my blogging days.
And long before I started taking pictures of practically everything!
So, sadly I do not have "before" pictures for you.
But if you can imagine this little bathroom with a tiny plywood-ish vanity, half the walls painted a very dark brown, the other half painted pale yellow, and the floor was that tile that has a "sticker" back to them and you slap 'em down and you're done.
*Not trying to offend anyone that has these kind of tiles, but they're not too sturdy in the durability dept. and they were tired. Very tired*
So, picture something like this....
...and then something like this.
I had really really wanted to spruce up our bathroom without buying all new stuff and not spend a million bucks.
SO, (don't hate me) I found this table for $10 at a junk shop and knew that it needed to be our new vanity.
It was bright blue and totally ugly, but we fixed it.
My handy hubby cut a hole in the top and we added the sink.
Pretty simple.
Then I added the milk crates for storage @ $5 each, it was a huge savings for our redo!
I thought about removing our usual "stuff" and rolling some towels just to make it prettier, but no...
just keepin' it real, folks :)
We added some new, but vintage-looking tile and wainscoting to the walls and some new light fixtures.
We painted the wainscoting white and the walls above a super muted, creamy white.
So, there it is...our hard work paid off and I still love our bathroom.
Now, on to our powder room...I ordered the most pretty toile wallpaper months ago and still have not had it put up!
Next project on my list :)

I love your bath redo! You commented on my powder room redo with the toile and beadboard. I have another bath I posted on the CSI and it is my master bath. I have the same floor tile as you! My master bath is number 10 on the CSI link if you want to see it.
Love the way your bathroom turned out. I really love those metal bins underneath the sink. But love the table turned into a vanity too. Plus love the floor...well I love all of it.

Saw your bathroom at Southern in My Heart and I had to come tell you that your bathroom is perfect! I love the table that you transformed into a sink! I have looking to do this as well! Everything is so great!!!
Your remodeled bathroom is fabulous Alicia! I love how you were frugal about this project but turned out wonderfully...these are the best kind of projects that will make you smile every time you see it. I also did a whole lot of remodeling project and have transformed my bath vanity into my own style.
Happy weekend...stopping by from Feathered Nest Friday!

So sweet and simple. You won't find this in every home on your block. Clever idea to use the table. I really do love it and I'm certain it is perfect for your home's age. Nice work ! Love your blog as well.
