Welcome the the heart of our home.

Today I'm taking you on a tour of our kitchen...

When we bought our house 4 years ago, our kitchen was

white

with

white

with

white!!

And NOT in a good way either!

So, we gave the cupboards a fresh coat of white paint, ripped up the old flooring and replaced it with some

leftover from my aunt's remodel, replaced the countertops and spiffed up the backsplash with some wainscoting.

Overall I love my kitchen.

It really works for me...it's just big enough. 

Not too big, not too small.

Lots of counterspace and lots of storage.

I found the sign {above} at a junk store.

I knew it belonged in the kitchen...where I take their orders :)

I used some cork contact paper in the inset of this door leading to the mudroom.

This where the chore lists hang...and the kids' allowance (when they've earned it!).

I made these Halloween plates a couple years ago at a Halloween party....

super fun craft.

Here's the energy buffet!

Coffee and vitamins!

You can usually find me hanging out here in the morning.

When we were house shopping, I really wanted a kitchen with

window that looked out to the backyard.

(don't look at the dead plants in the window box!)

I wanted to be able to slave away AND watch the kiddos

wrestling

and

sword-fighting

and

building forts

and

whatever else they can think of :)

I'm not showing you my microwave because it's super cool or something...

just showing you my Post-It scriptures I keep on there.

I have to change them often...

a constant reminder to

focus.

Uh, this post has been up for several days and I just realized I forgot to photograph one whole side of the kitchen! :)
