We finished reading Treasure Island last week and, O MY GOSH! did my boys love it! I guess anything with guns, treasure, and pirates boys are going to like it.A few weeks ago, I posted about an article I found about doing projects with literature and I definately wanted to do a project with this book. I gave the boys a few choices of projects and they chose to do a map to tell about the story. (very fitting)
I gave Noah a list of things he needed to include on his map and then we distressed them so they looked more authentic. (I let Jack just draw it anyway he wanted.)

Noah's map. We distressed by painting over it with coffee, then baking it. I, not the boys, also burned some of the corners. As you can see, one corner got a little out of hand :)
Very fun project. Arrrgh!!

Yes, I remember your unfortunate experience with lice. Ugh. I felt so sorry for you, but I'm thankful you learned about goats and lice in order to help me! LOL
By the way, I added Treasure Island to a list of to-read after reading your post!
