Dave Matthews Band

10,000 Lakes Festival Saturday to see Dave Matthews Band!!

It was a quick trip, but we had a great time. Dave lived up to the standard everyone put him to..he put on a great show. Most of the songs he played were from his newest album, which I'm not as familiar with, but he was awesome. It made me want to buy his new album, which is the point I'm sure! We ended up weaving our way pretty close to the front, so we had a pretty good view. Here's a couple a pictures...

Here's Dave...we could see him better then this picture shows!

Best Invention Ever

This little machine must be one of the best inventions ever! (besides things like dishwashers and coffeemakers) It is the generic version of the "Magic Bullet." My sweet mother bought it for me a few weeks ago after she heard me complaining about having to keep my big bulky blender out on the counter. It makes smoothie-making a breeze in the morning! I love making a protein shake for me and my kids for breakfast. (Jarrod won't drink them...he says they taste like chalk...go figure!)

So here's how it works: (Ok...pretend you're watching QVC) You simply fill the cup with your desired ingredients...some of our favorites are frozen berries and bananas. Then you add the protein mix (I use the Shaklee kind), and a little ice and milk or OJ. After you've added your ingredients, simply screw on the lid with the attached blade and click it into place on the base. Plug it in and press the "pulse" button until fully blended. When fully blended, remove the cup from the base, take off the blade and drink right from the cup! How handy it that!!??

It comes with six different cups and two blades, one for blending and one for chopping. It can be used for chopping nuts, making vinaigrette for salads, smoothies, shakes and MUCH MORE!!

Beautiful! If you like smoothies for breakfast...you've got to get one of these!!

Here I am enjoying a protein shake!! Yeah generic Magic Bullet!!

The Little Garden that Grew!

Here's the boys the day we planted the garden and the cutest garden markers ever that the boys and I made. It's a tiny picture of the veggie sandwiched by two clear, glass stones glued together. Then you hot glue the stones to a stick and cover up the hot glue with raffia...they are too cute!

This spring, Jarrod moved my two little garden boxes over to the northwest corner of the backyard, hoping it would get more sun there. We've had a really cool, rainy summer, so I wasn't sure how it would do, but it seems to be just exploding in the last couple of weeks. I have about 200 tomatoes coming, beans ready to pick, and I just found the most adorable little zucchini underneath all the foliage of pumpkin and squash plants.

Here's Sophie in the garden today.

I love having a garden! Although, ever since my kids were big enough to help me with it, I never know what's going to come out of the ground. They pretty much just put seeds wherever they feel led to put them. (Which makes it pretty interesting!)

Showing me the beans we just picked...and yes, she was eating them!

My mom, who's thumb is greener than anyone I know, listens to me when I called her so excited over my first pepper, even though she's been eating peppers for weeks! She's so sweet to be excited for me even though she did not pass down all her "green" talent!
Here's a list of all the things we planted in our little garden:
  • Peppers: green, yellow, and jalapeno
  • Eggplant (never planted this before...thought it'd be fun)
  • Onions
  • Tomatoes (Uncle Art's homegrown!)
  • Herbs (sage, thyme, basil, parsley, chives, oregano, cilantro)
  • Pumpkins
  • Watermelon
  • Celery
  • Zucchini
  • Squash

My First Post!

So after thinking about starting a blog for a while now, and after being inspired by so many other moms' blogs...here I am!! My first post!! It's more exciting than I thought it'd be! Jarrod isn't sure that anyone wants to read about our lives, but I don't know...we have some pretty interesting things that go on around here. That is if you're into things like growing cute little gardens and home school projects!

So, I want to dedicate this blogspot to my family..."la famille"...extended and immediate...you are the best!! Even though growing up I never planned that I would be a 26-year-old stay-at-home mom of three, I could have never planned it better. God's plans are always better than mine!
I hope you enjoy reading about our craziness, silliness, and sometimes our ordinary-ness bliss!
